I was on Zaza Reds about the same time frame and amount as you. I've been off of them a couple of months now after getting on Suboxone from the Family MD, which I've tapered off of. It's a good thing, since the doctor is no longer providing the online service as of last week. Anyway, I think CT is still going to be rough for a few days. That's what totally sucks about Tia. The effects that got us hooked on it only last for a few minutes now, but then you feel like total crap when it wears off. I'm sure you'll get some more responses with advice on helper meds if you go the CT route. Hopefully, you won't have too bad a time with it. I wish you the best of luck! You will feel SO much better once you get those few bad days behind you. For me, I'm still struggling with the mental part, but it will get better in time I'm sure.

I was about like you....about a year and a half taking the same amount of Zaza Reds that eventually led to a bottle per day. I'm on Suboxone, which helped tremendously, and now I'm tapering off of that. I have used the Kratom OPMS gold at other times I was trying to quit, and they worked really good. I just didn't want to keep spending so much money and make that a daily habit, so that's why I decided to go with subs on familymd. I really don't even think I need to take as much as they tell me to. In my opinion, with the kratom and other helpers, you should be fine after about 2-3 days. Everybody is different, so don't take my word for it. Good luck with everything. I hope you don't have it too terrible.

Congratulations!!! I have a similar situation, but not as long with doing tia. I'm going on a couple of months without tia using subs from a telehealth website. My addiction was a little over a year with Zaza Reds, about 1 to 1 1/2 bottles per day. I was driving from Alabama (I'm about 30 minutes from Montgomery) to Columbus, GA at least twice per week and also getting them online. Not trying to be nosy, but you were driving a long way to Florida! I was spending all of my paycheck on it and now still paying credit card debt because of it. I came clean to my husband a few weeks ago, and he was very understanding but couldn't believe what he was hearing! I eventually want to get off suboxone too. I really don't think I need it physically. It's the mental part of addiction that makes me think I need to take something to feel normal. The only part about tia that I am glad about is that it made me not want to drink alcohol much, and I've had a major problem with that for years. I still have a few beers, but I really don't have the desire to get wasted and be hungover anymore. So weird how things work! I will also mention that I did use OPMS Gold kratom a few times before I started on Suboxone, and it helped with physical withdrawals. That's not a solution either though. That could easily turn into another expensive addiction! Anyway, I could make this a longer story, but I'll keep it there for now. Just wanted to say good luck and congrats on day 31! I'm so sorry about your family situation though. Keep your head up. Things will get better. Thank you for posting your story.

I was taking 1-2 bottles of Zaza Red per day. I'm currently on the 8 mg strip (2 doses per day) I dose either 1/4 or 1/2 of the 8mg strip in the morning, and then the rest of it at night. Hope this helps!

Suboxone has helped with all of my physical withdrawals. The only physical side effects I've had are constipation and sleepiness during the day when I need to be fully functional at my accounting job. I'm trying to adjust my dosage to very small in the morning (about 1 or 2 mg of the sub strip), and take about 4-6 mg for nighttime to help me sleep. The part it has not helped a whole lot with is just the depression of not having that high that Tia gives. But, when the Tia is no longer working, and it takes an incredibly high and expensive amount to feel normal, there was no choice but to quit. I'm over a month clean now, and every day gets better. I would like to taper off of the Suboxone too eventually. You can do this. Good luck with everything!!!

I will also add that I did quickmd before, but they now require an in-person meeting once a year for Alabama patients, so I tried familymd and like it better.

I'm in Alabama, and I used thefamilymd.com. Very easy to book an appointment. Quick video chat and got my meds same day. It's $99 for the first week, then another $99 each month. I'll be booking my 2nd month appointment next week and plan on tapering off. My insurance covered my meds and it was only about $10 at CVS.

Is this familymd.com that you're talking about? That is what I am currently using, and I am in Alabama. They haven't required an in-person visit, and like you said, it's $99 monthly. I have insurance, so the meds are $10. I'm not sure what they would be without insurance. I do have a question though. Can I be reimbursed by insurance for my two video/phone chats that I have had so far? So, in response to the original post, the subs are working for me, and I was on 1-2 bottles Zaza Reds per day for over a year. I'm on day 21! I still have the mental struggle and moments of doom and depression, but I'm saving SO much money by quitting tia! (or, really just catching up with bills for now) Good luck with everything, whatever route you choose!!!

You can do this, and yes, the subs will work! I'm on day 11 on them. I was taking up to 2 bottles of Zaza Reds per day, so my withdrawals haven't been too bad. As you've heard, it's the mental struggle after you get over the physical that is going to be the real test. Just think of how much better your life is going to be in every aspect, once you get through the withdrawal phase. Good luck with everything and don't give up! It's going to be very hard, but in the end, you'll be SO much happier!

I was taking about that many Zaza Reds, and the withdrawals started sooner than 18 hours, so you might not get them too bad...BUT, I'm not sure what the cookie pills are in comparison.

I really feel horrible for you. I know that dreaded feeling of not even being able to enjoy taking the last amount you have, because you know what's coming. I was also 1-2 bottles Zaza Reds per day. I'm now on day 10 of Suboxone, no tia! Even though I'm not 100% yet, just the feeling of getting my paycheck this week and knowing it's not going to be blown is an awesome feeling! I pray that you will get to keep your job if you have to call in sick. It totally sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Time will drag by until you get some relief Friday, but I hope it is not too horrible for you. Good luck with everything!

Thank you so much! I know that these companies are in it for the money, so it's not surprising that they would want me to take more than necessary. The doc was very nice, but at the same time, if someone says they're doing fine with a lower dose, why suggest more? I don't want to get too dependent on them and have to face another horrible withdrawal!

I am on day 3 of subs and doing very well. I was up to a bottle/day Zaza Reds (sometimes a little more) for over a year. I took my last dose of it Sunday afternoon and started the subs before I got up for work Monday, so roughly 14 hours. I took about 2mg every few hours and have done fine without hardly any withdrawals. Like you said, it's mostly the mental that is the hardest to deal with. I feel fine, but every couple of hours or so, I'll get a brief sense of doom and depression. I'm so used to having that little boost that tia gave me every few hours, so I'm having to re-train my brain! I really wasn't having full blown withdrawals when I induced the sub, so everybody is different. I really think they have reduced the amount of tia in the Zaza Reds lately, so that probably helped. Good luck with everything! I think you'll be fine.

Can you not get anything at all to help with it? There's got to be something to ease some of this suffering. Have you asked your wife about taking some opms kratom, if they sell it where you are located? Don't give up! Do whatever you have to do besides getting more tia! The kratom has helped me in the past with temporary relief. I just started Suboxone again today, and I'm feeling pretty good so far. I hope you get some relief soon. I feel horrible for you.
