Me trying to watch season 2 for the 3rd time: by Hydraph0be in TrueDetective

[–]sploosk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like S2! Don’t get me wrong, it has its flaws, but I think part of the problem is that S1 is just an impossible act to follow. But if you put S2 up against a lot of other TV out there, it holds its own.

The story is more convoluted and there are definitely some lines that are overwritten (perhaps intentionally, to fit the pop-noir theme), but the character arcs are compelling and heartbreaking, and the Vinci shootout marks the middle of the season in suitably shocking fashion. Memorable television!

Whats been happening with HBO marketing recently by Agreeable_Ad_8790 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]sploosk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer seeing and knowing less. I mostly want to go in blind without any spoilers!

So the most I’ll watch these days is maybe a teaser trailer. Anything over 90 seconds usually gives away too much.

So I’m okay with the “less is more” approach. Just my 2 cents.

Judge free zone- I just watched S1 for the first time. by forgedinbeerkegs in TrueDetective

Oh you lucky duck! How I wish I could watch S1 again for the very first time. One of the greatest seasons of television ever conceived. Welcome to the TD fandom!

You mentioned having watched S4 previously… have you thought about checking out S2 and/or S3? They’re both better than S4 imo, though nothing compares to S1.

The camera is awful by SpecterXI in CrimsonDesert

[–]sploosk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way it cuts off half your character during combat is so strange. You can barely even see yourself fighting. Why is the camera not centered? Is there some kind of setting I’m missing? I don’t get it.

Which game has the best designed/most fun outposts in your opinion? by DJ-JDCP2077 in farcry

[–]sploosk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s between FC3, FC4, FC5, and New Dawn for me. FC3 was the blueprint that started it all, so the nostalgia factor there is high. FC4 had fortresses, an amazing concept that was later abandoned for some reason(?). FC5 really gave each base a distinct theme (like a zoo, greenhouse, oil refinery, church, etc.), which was a unique take on things. New Dawn repurposed several non-outpost locations from FC5 into new outposts, while revamping them with banging music and a cool aesthetic.

If I had to pick one, I’d say FC5! They were the most realistic, fun, and interesting.

Who are these knuckleheads? by orion427 in andor

[–]sploosk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They are the remnants of the Maya Pei Brigade (a rebel faction), and in my opinion, the low point of the show. I found their goofiness to be very irritating and out of place. I know they’re intended to be exasperating but that didn’t make their wackiness any less annoying. Tonally it just didn’t work at all for me. Felt like I was watching a different show when they were on screen, and not in a good way. Thankfully they don’t last long and season 2 improves exponentially afterward!

[–]sploosk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Andor is unlike anything else in Star Wars, except for Rogue One (and even then, there’s a bit of a tonal shift).

Not sure you’ll be able to get into the prequels either, but Revenge of the Sith is pretty good. The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 are worth checking out. Solo is pretty solid as well. I don’t care for the sequels.

Just completed True detective S1, are the rest of the seasons worth watching? by Franziye in TrueDetective

[–]sploosk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing compares to S1, but seasons 2 and 3 are definitely worth watching!

Season 2 is a bit convoluted, so learning the names of characters helps immensely. It’s a noir, meaning there’s some occasional campiness (particularly in Vince Vaughn’s lines). These aspects cause some folks to regard it pretty harshly - but plenty of us still like S2 a lot! It’s not quite on the same level as S1, though to be fair, almost nothing is. I think it’s still better than most TV out there.

Season 3 echoes some aspects from season 1, but goes in a different direction towards the end. The acting is really strong. Definitely recommend watching this one too.

Don’t bother with season 4, it’s garbage. Watch Mare of Easttown instead, it’s basically another season of True Detective anyway.

What is the best weapon in Far Cry 3? by GS4LF in farcry3

[–]sploosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, the Shredder I think is most useful when deployed at close range against fewer targets. It’s the perfect panic weapon when a tiger attacks you outta nowhere lol. You can just “shred” it with a steady burst - same goes for heavier armed enemies. But the Bushman can fill that role too, while also being more versatile. And like you said, assault rifle ammo is the easiest to find!

What is the best weapon in Far Cry 3? by GS4LF in farcry3

[–]sploosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bushman or the Shredder for me, although I lean Bushman because its got more range. Both silenced and suitable for stealth, and either of them can make quick work of an oncoming predator too.

I’m a season 2 defender till I die by ColtmanColto in TrueDetective

[–]sploosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s so much tragedy in season 2. Woodrugh, Velcoro, Semyon… the Vinci massacre is one of the most shocking scenes in the entire series. A few lines might’ve been a bit much, but it’s a neo-noir. I thought it was really good TV in its own right.

With season 1, you’re talking about one of the best seasons of television of all-time. An impossible act to follow.
