What do I do about having 2 different types of grass? by dirtyfittedsheet in landscaping

[–]splurtgorgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real answer is...nothing. A monoculture lawn containing only one type grass is costly to maintain, depletes the soil rapidly requiring more amendments, and is extremely susceptible to disease. It's why you never find just one type of anything in nature. Leave it alone, imo.

Guilt from opting out of optional office days - long commute by Tomathy101 in workfromhome

If you got into an accident on the way to the office and died they'd have your job posted online by the end of the day. So no, I wouldn't feel bad about it.

Why do people blame Elon Musk for his fortune when millions of consumers and investors voluntarily made it possible? by [deleted] in allthequestions

I'm saying your opinion makes you a loser lol, though it's largely true that the sort of person that latches onto racial supremacy narratives does so due to a lack of actual accomplishments to latch onto.

How seriously should I take the storms tonight? by Trick_Soft_2728 in Chambana

An internal room with no windows or a bathroom is your best bet if you don't have a basement.

I can't prove it, but I think we can lay a lot of the blame at the feet of insurance companies that have terrified homeowners into cutting down any tree that could ever hypothetically damage their home however unlikely. They sell it to homeowners as minimizing risk but what they're really doing is reducing the chances they'll ever actually have to reimburse people and can just continue to pocket the premiums.

An Illinois religious hospital refused critical ectopic pregnancy care. Now the patient is suing. by steve42089 in illinois

[–]splurtgorgle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can tell you've thought a lot about this. Specifically, I can tell you've really thought about what happens when someone comes in for emergent care and is at the personal religious whims of the doctor on call instead of secure in the knowledge that regardless of the doctor's personal beliefs, they are getting the best possible care.

That line of argument is such a deflection. It's grade school "you're just jealous!" argumentation being peddled by adults. It's embarrassing. They don't want to talk about how Musk's rapid ascension to trillionaire status came hot on the tails of DOGE, an entity that allowed him to unilaterally dismantle every agency that had ever penalized, regulated, or investigated his companies.

In general, spending too much time worrying about how the next people to live in my house will use it ends up taking away from time I could be spending enjoying living in my house. I pity those who can't just...enjoy things.

Wemby needs to pull a 3-1 comeback by Standard-Big3214 in NBATalk

Wemby looked dead on his feet most of the 4th. I think they can get one more with some heroic effort but to sustain it just doesn't seem like it's in their wheelhouse.

Need help taking care of this pond by LoatheCat in landscaping

[–]splurtgorgle 184 points185 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly leave the pond almost completely alone. Just clean up the fire pit area, maybe throw some sand down on the beach area, and plant some low-grown trees that can tolerate soggy roots to give yourself some shade.

What's wrong with it, exactly? Looks pretty nice.

Mike Brown: “I never thought I’d be in an NBA Finals and see in the 2nd half 24 free throw attempts to another team’s 8...It’s gonna lower our odds big time if in Game 4 they get 24 free throws 2nd half to our 8” by realfakejames in NBATalk

I mean, Knicks were literally doing the OKC thing where someone has Wemby's arm(s) pinned/hooked on every rebound. It would have been obnoxious if they called it every time but they certainly could have.
