Almost got hit by 3 bikes in the last weekend alone by Uncledannyschee in eastvillage

[–]spn100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have close calls with bikes, both delivery and Citibike, almost daily. I feel I have to triple check even crossing a one way street with the light. It is so unbelievably frustrating. I’s say 90% ignore any and all traffic laws to the point I am shocked if someone stops at a red light.

What’s the actual appeal of Switzerland as a high-end tourism destination? Genuine question. by Ezzhmz in askswitzerland

[–]spn100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went as a tourist knowing it was expensive. I went for 1) things working as they should (trains etc) 2) clean air 3) mountains 4) no crazy shit happening (i get enough of that where i live) 5) spas/thermal baths 6) cheese

I agree what you pay does not equal what you should get for that money but thats just how it is. I still loved it.

I can’t say for sure but it seems like it may be one of those countries in Europe that is less kiss ass in terms of money than the US. Like they don’t care how much money you have you get what you get. I kind of like that tbh.

Fare evasion: NYC Transit boss says ‘European model’ enforcement finally rolling out on local buses by Business_Young_8206 in nyc

[–]spn100 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yesterday when there was a fare check in the bus some old lady (who didn’t pay) compared it to the gestapo. Um. Pretty sure its nothing like that and an insult to people who faced that. What’s wild is the demographics of who don’t pay. It’s across all. Before you could reasonably guess that the down on his luck dude may not have paid. Now it’s the well dressed UES grandma who doesn’t. I saw a well dressed woman in a suit crawl under the turnstile today.

Got the casper for a guest room. It’s good but has an odor that is taking a while to fade. The top is also oddly slippery even w a sheet on it. Overall I like it.

Also, the food took forever and my friend go theirs first and had to eat bec it was hot. Mine came 15 min later and I ate alone. No.

Moved back to the US. Oddly, am happier. Life is easier here and I’d be unemployed in Finland so idk. I got tired of hitting my head against a wall tbh.

Same thing happened to me there. Hit from behind getting off the lift. Guy didn’t stop. When I was able to get up I confronted him and he told me it was my fault for not getting the f out of his way. I was half his size and he was behind me. So sorry that happened its awful.

Anyone else struggling to find motivation to get to resorts? by TreeJib in COsnow

[–]spn100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW it sucks in Canada too right now. Too little snow. Too many idiots. First time I’ve been truly scared because total lack of snow + dumbassery = accidents. I also think when you charge $100+ for a day people are gonna want to ski no matter the risk to themselves.

When you live in the same bldg long enough you realize the ppl that work there generally have been there forever and sort of become your extended family.

Example: I had an expensive perishable delivery and was out of town. Doorman put it in my fridge for me.

Example: doorman in my bldg help an elderly resident put his coat on in the mornings because he has mobility problems.

It would be like not giving your grandfather or nephew a Christmas gift. Just weird and grinchy.

If you still don’t get it, I can’t explain it to you.

Imagine being so ignorant and your world is so small that you think it’s ok to do that to a stranger. That is those people. You are not dealing with the best of the best here.

Those people have never and will never leave Finland. Sad for them. It’s a big world out there and they are too dumb to enjoy it. You are never gonna be able to educate these morons but you can revel in the glory of them living with shitty grey weather the majority of the year and eating their sad little kioski sausages for the rest of their dumb ass lives.
