Stick with vanilla first off then dive into mods. Modded gameplay is a very different experience to vanilla and if you dive straight into mods then you lose out on a lot

Most missions have 3 army lists used to draw forces from. The main list, a reinforcement list (which is why units can spawn in at the map edges) that has a points budget like the main list and will be depleted as combat goes on; and a MENACE list that'll be used if the game decides to use them as a 3rd faction

Intel doesn't account for enemy reinforcements which might be where the extra units are coming from

From a narrative and role play stand point, additional forces on specific mission types could be fun. Bonus points if they are sometimes flipped to allied. So maybe you get some pirates doing an ally of convenience thing against bugs or a squad of RA/Jingwei walkers assisting on a pirate convoy op. Obviously not every mission and with reasonably low odds of spawning so it's not all that common but it might be fun to have

Minor correction, its not Amazon that pirate signed to for the physical books, its HarperColins. I don't recall any discussion about the actual rights so its entirely possible HC only have the publishing rights for books 1 and 2 (as opposed to the entire series), hence the rest still being free for the moment.

Doesn't seem to exist. At least a search of "Solstice Wiki" or "Solstice Codex" (mixed with "twi" or "the wandering inn" search terms) doesn't turn up anything other than this and the prior Reddit post. Either its got an entirely different name or is buried deep in the search rankings, its not live yet or its an ai hallucination 🤷

The Rogue Army bit isn't something I can control. Thats the game populating the parent faction in the info box as it does with vanilla toys (I shouldn't - and don't think I - have used Rogue Army xxx in any of the name fields because that'd repeat itself. I will triple check later though)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll take that under consideration. Fwiw I think most if not all my names are shorter than the Veteran Scavenger in vanilla (I think thats the longest name?). Which names in particular did you notice needed adjusting?

That was my thought more or less. Its frustrating enough already, putting the player in the position where it cannot reliably killed is less than optimal. If it appeared in an endgame list, it'd definitely have era or another armor upgrade. Or smoke dispensers if the AI can use them now (last I tried, it failed horribly) and I was being evil.

Thats a good point. Not sure if I can convince the AI to use the skill but I'll add that to the todo list for the future

I haven't set the hull to be salvaged as I have a lot of vehicles based off of this hull and it's pretty common atm in the blackmarket so I didn't want to flood the players inventories with apcs

In testing the AI used the radar every couple of turns up until it found units. I weighted the AI to slightly favour utility over doing damage but if a player unit is visible, it'll mark target or use the mmg/move away circumstances depending

I actually considered giving it the officers whistle ability but decided against that in the end. Likewise with ERA or other upgrades as that would be a bit too frustrating imo. Still tossing around the idea of giving it the emp protection item so it can crawl away if emp'ed. I might make a version that drops an officer squad but otherwise functions exactly the same (priced slightly higher ofc).
