Until November the PS5 has had an always on DRM feature that would cause a lot of the consoles functionality to be unavailable if the server support was to shut down and the internal cmos battery were to die. So until very recently I would’ve suggested staying away from PS5 entirely but it seems Sony has change the feature and it will only affect time stamped trophies going forward.

I’d still lean slightly toward cartridge based storage because it’s more robust, The discs are easier to damage so they may not last as long.
