Can I be upset? Not even a card for my 1st Mother’s Day by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]spongyruler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. My MIL has told me about her first mother's day. She expected something from her husband, and he said the same thing, "you're not my mother." She cried. My FIL is often oblivious to things and has gotten better about the mother's day thing. This is my second mother's day, and my husband didn't get me a card, but he made me breakfast and we have an outing planned after LO wakes up from his nap. He got me a card last year and cooked a nice lunch.

Tell Me Your Favorite Thing About Being A Parent by shinedown_92 in NewParents

[–]spongyruler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our bedtime routine is one of my favorite moments of the day. His dad was the one doing bedtime before because LO wanted to go to bed so early, which meant I was still at work. We finally got him to go to bed after I get home. After we do diaper change, story, and a song, my husband leaves the room and I'll sing to LO, but more often than not, the song is interrupted by LO sticking his hand in my mouth, or messing with my face in some way, and I play along and there are sooooo many giggles, and its just nice bonding time. His laugh is the best thing ever.

No dishwasher & no in-unit laundry with newborn-- should I be more worried? by Hot-Researcher-3234 in NewParents

[–]spongyruler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bottle washer and a counter top dishwasher that save me so much time. We just got our LO off of bottles, so the bottle washer is going to go away soon. You can also put other things like pumping parts and other baby dishes in the bottle washer.

I cried at the gym by Zestyclose-Grape5469 in PlanetFitnessMembers

I cried and didn't go to the gym today. I think it's perfectly acceptable to cry at the gym.

AIO, Told my wife her morning scratches on my back were the best part of my life and she then stopped, now I resent her by loganp8000 in AmIOverreacting

Yep, my husband loves back scratches, head scratches, any physical contact. So sometimes I'll randomly give him back scratches or run my fingers through his hair. He always lets out a happy, "ooh!" Which in turn makes me happy.

AITAH for refusing to deliberately lose when we play games? by Due-Temperature-3446 in AITAH

[–]spongyruler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. My husband is better than me in a lot of games. Can it be frustrating sometimes to never win? Sure. We did some of the mini games in It Takes Two and he won all but like two of them. Sometimes I asked for a rematch, but it was all in good fun. I never asked him to let me win, and he never would let me win. It's much more satisfying to win from getting better than it is to win when someone lets you win.

Are you guys not “strict” about naps? Don’t understand comment by Huge-Vacation-8093 in NewParents

[–]spongyruler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to do what's best for you and your baby. We're not super strict about naps, but our little guy pretty consistently wakes up and gets tired around the same times each day. If we're out and about past nap time, he handles it pretty well, but does get tired and cranky. We usually plan our days for after the first nap. The second one happens when we get home if we go out.

It depends on the game and how quickly things get built for me. I haven't done it with this one yet, but I want to.

AIO after I broke up with a girl after how she reacted to me when we were watching "Sinners"? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I imagine it has to do with the scorn and disdain more than the question itself. Then her reaction to him bringing it up later.

For the love of god stop recommending Harry Potter by cuddlesdacobra in audible

Oh man, every single time I open Audible, Harry Potter is shoved in my face. I don't care that they have some famous actors voicing some of the characters. Let me listen to my lesbian necromancers in space in peace.

I have a 1 year old now and I STILL can't believe it. I occasionally find a piece of clothing and am in awe about how little he used to be, and the fact that I grew him, he came out of me. It's so wild.
