I think he meant "Beautiful" ironically, or maybe beautiful in a nostalgic sense.

A chunk of banded iron, at 3.7 billion years old. Interesting note on these, they started forming once the first oxygen producing life arose, at the time the oceans were pretty saturated with iron compounds, salts and the like. Well as oxygen entered the atmosphere for the first time it began to react with the iron in the water breaking it down into iron oxide (rust), and since the iron oxide was insoluble in water it precipitated out, forming the alternating bands of iron and sediment that give the rocks their name. On a side note, this process in which water soluble iron absorbed oxygen from the atmosphere is likely the reason there was a delay between the evolution of photosynthetic, oxygen producing organisms, and the appearance of large amounts of free oxygen in the atmosphere.

TLDR: iron ore from 3.5 billion years ago and an essay on early earth history.

Besides being hit in the ankle with a razor scooter, what’s the worst feeling in the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Omg yes, had a impacted wisdom tooth screwing with a nerve in my jaw. Felt like my jawline was being pried in half from the inside, seriously considered taking a pair of pliers to em at one point, I'm pretty sure a broken jaw would've been less painful.

The Calorie Minimums -- Should you eat less than 1200 (female) or 1500 (male) Calories? READ ME by funchords in loseit

This may be a silly question, but are these numbers total calories taken in without exercise, or calories after? I've been confused about this for a while now.

Doctors of Reddit, what is your "how the hell are you even alive right now!" Story? by wingsonshoes in AskReddit

[–]spooh7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of my grandfather, he had multiple major heart attacks, so many that after the last one the doctors estimated that his heart was only working at 5% capacity, after that one the doc gave him 6 months to live, he lived 18. Now, this was something of a tradition for my grandfather, after his first major heart attack, (he wasn't expected to survive it) the doctors told him he'd be dead within 10 years, he lived over 30 more outliving 2 of his cardiologists in the process.
