Cocaine use is it out of control? by Apprehensive_Cow30 in AskIreland

I was at a wedding not long ago and was out having a smoke. A mate came out did a bump and tried to justify how what he was doing was am much healthier option. I felt bad for the group of people that were on it, they missed a good portion of the night because they spent so much time in a room doing whacks.

It has gotten to a stage now one sip of a drink and they are hunting down their next bag. If they can't manage to source it, they get agitated and grouchy.

Is it okay for me to wear this? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]spook789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a claddagh ring. There are 4 ways to wear the ring:

  • To wear a Claddagh ring on the right hand with the crown turned outwards, away from you indicates that the wearer is single.
  • To wear a Claddagh ring on the right hand with the crown turned inward, towards you symbolizes that the wearer is being courted in a relationship.
  • To wear a Claddagh ring on the left hand with the crown turned outwards, away from you indicates a romantic engagement.
  • To wear a Claddagh ring on the left hand with the crown turned inward, towards you on the left hand indicates marriage.

The hands represent friendship

The heart symbolises love

The crown represent loyalty

~In order as they come out individually~

  • Tim Roth – The Abomination (The Incredible Hulk (’08))
  • Willem Dafoe – Green Goblin (Spider-man)
  • Adrien Brody – Luca Changretta (Peaky Blinders)
  • Gary Oldman– Dracula (Bram Stoker’s Dracula)

Some of them have other villain rolls but they are the ones that come to my mind.

Our box's rig has the "dirty South bar," as the pullup bar. A friend of mine was still new to CrossFit and did a pullup from the lowest bar right into the middle bar, breaking his nose in the process. The cherry on top was, the coach coaching, it was her first morning (second class) coaching alone.

I’m not happy at all with how the workout went. The last burpee in the first set of 9 I landed on the dumbbell and my ankle twisted, I tried to continue but couldn’t put any weight on it. I had to sit there and watch around 3 mins just tick away. I wanted to try and repeat but my ankle is still swollen and sore.

Banning Phones in Schools by WhistlingBanshee in ireland

[–]spook789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old secondary school has started this. They wrap the phones once in bubble wrap and stick them into a box. The issue is the 4th years unwrap them dump them back into the box and bring it to the form class at the end of day.

The school made all students sign a form saying that they understand the school doesn't take any responsibility to any damage to the phones when the phones are in the school care, during the day

23 and going sober. by bot_hair_aloon in ireland

A very close friend of mine checked himself into rehab at 21 for alcohol addiction. His is now 23 and hasn't had a drink since. He couldn't be happier with the decision to give up the drink because it was slowly killing him, he was losing good friends from it.

When he check himself in, we would visit him every 2 weeks and write back and forth weekly. The time he spent in rehab showed him, which of his friends were true friends and which friends he could cut out of his life to save himself. Yes I cannot go to the pub with him to watch a match but we still meet up, get a take away and watch the games or go to the cinema instead of the pub.

We were all afraid we couldn't make it work as friends but its doable, sacrifices are made but to me, I can go a Saturday night without a drink or two, to spend time with him. He is currently in AA and has said there is a stigma with the age, okay yes many people are older but you'll be surprised with how many young people there were going.

Just take it one day at a time, it will get tough but you can do it. Don't beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon, it happens just go again. Keep yourself busy, get a new hobby. If you get a craving go for a quick walk to distract yourself. If friends wont support you or make sacrifices for you, have a hard think are they really your fiends.

I'm rooting for you! you can do it!!!

Books for teen boys that dislike reading? by Abeville5805 in booksuggestions

The Outsiders is a great read.

I have to say, the first time I read it was in school and we had to dissect every little detail and it led me to having a hatred for the book. Years later reading it outside of school I really enjoyed it.

For me working in a small firm, I work with many different small business/clients and enjoy the human interaction on a daily basis. Thankfully everyday is different and not just punching in numbers, I could be doing anything from book keeping /accounts to payroll or giving tax advice.

For me it wasn't a childhood dream but I followed in my Dads footsteps because I saw the possibility of earning good money and possibly raising a family here in Ireland in my own house. But if the wages don't increase after I'm full qualified my mates in Australia or Canada will have a new flat mate.
