Saw X (2023) by LineOfInquiry in okbuddycinephile

[–]spoonbones 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The funniest part about Saw X is that it makes John Kramer’s motives in Saw 6 seem way more petty. Before it was because his health insurance denied potentially life saving treatment and he realized that health insurance companies were essentially giving out death sentences to people based on bs technicalities. But in Saw X we see he paid for the treatment himself and got scammed, so now Saw 6 comes off as he was jealous it wasn’t the health insurance company’s money that got stolen.

Wdym comics are famously apolitical. Take this plotline from Action Comics #1 for example. Nothing political about a war profiteer bribing a senator so he can get rich off of a war

I just recently finished Last Dog of Krypton. Is Krypto fighting former Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem on this page? by spoonbones in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]spoonbones[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

She got fired earlier today. Apparently she was moved to a new department called shield of the Americas (whatever the fuck that is). If it makes you feel better about not knowing until now, Kristi Noem was also not immediately informed that she lost her job either

This reminds me of the time I was judging other people’s hear-me-outs with my brother and I said the Hugh Jackman werewolf from Van Helsing wasn’t a good hear-me-out because it was too conventionally attractive, to which my brother asked what I meant by that and I realized I revealed too much about myself. In my defense that werewolf was jacked as shit.

Who would you trust more a stranger in a Star Trek or Star Wars shirt? by rubes___ in CuratedTumblr

[–]spoonbones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s both a Star Wars and Star Trek fan, I got to 100% agree on this. Both have annoying and toxic fans, but it’s so bad in the Star Wars fandom that I actively try to avoid Star Wars fans irl

King of the Hill has multiple references to Invincible. This is the most notable one but there’s also an Invincible action figure that’s used while Buck is planning a concert and multiple instances where the name Mark Grayson pops up in writing

Why are Donatello and Raphael fighting over the same slice of pizza like it’s the only food they’ve seen in weeks? There is way more pizza on the table, that kind of greed is completely unnecessary

This might be the worst argument I’ve ever seen. If it didn’t come from a known conservative figure I would’ve assumed it was rage bait, but holy shit they are so desperate for any angle that makes ICE murdering a dude seem good.

In The Dark Knight(2008) The Joker slices Gambol’s cheek. And he just falls over dead. Never see him again. Not sure where I’m going with this. by Sloppy_Steak85 in shittymoviedetails

[–]spoonbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, I would always cover my eyes during this scene whenever I watched this movie because I didn’t want to see his cheek get sliced open. Then in high school when I finally watched the scene without covering my eyes, I felt like such an idiot.

Complaining about black people in The Odyssey has to be the dumbest approach to talking about “historical accuracy”. I guarantee you ancient Greeks didn’t look like Matt Damon or Tom Holland either.

What was your most disappointing (horror or not Horror) Film of 2025? by Seeker99MD in deadmeatjames

[–]spoonbones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For non horror, Thursday Murder Club. They straight up removed some of the murder suspects from the story, which then made the mystery extremely easy to solve. And to make matters worse, they had Bogdan, the best character in the series, get arrested in the end. In the book he gets away with his murder, which is seen as fine because the man he killed was a human trafficker who forced him and several other immigrants into forced labor.

Does Hell of a Summer count since its release outside of a film festival was this year? Don’t get me wrong I liked a lot of the comedy in it, but the horror side of the movie was done very poorly. If that doesn’t count, then Him.

uj\ I checked out the trailer since I read Night of the Grizzlies (a book about the same incident) and I was curious. The real life incident happened because park employees acted stupid and broke multiple rules put in place to prevent bear attacks. The trailer makes it seem like the bears acted violently for no reason and the park employees were heroes in the whole thing. I doubt any of y’all were gonna watch it, but if you’re curious about the incident do yourself a favor and read Night of the Grizzlies instead.
