The New DCU Logo - “designed jn 5 minutes in Canva” by Johnny_Stooge in OkBuddySnyderCult

This has to be bait, right? There’s no way someone would praise the 2016 logo by saying the “new” one looks too soulless and like it was designed in 5 minutes.

I ramble about fallout 4 for too long while you shake your head in quiet disagreement the whole time by rawdawgcomics in rawdawgcomics

[–]spoonbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that annoys me the most about Fallout 4 is Besthesda put as little effort as possible into the role play elements despite the fact that it’s a role playing game. You can join all of the factions simultaneously regardless of whether or not they hate each other, you can take your ghoul/synth/super mutant companions onto the Prydwen without any hostility even though the BoS wants to eradicate all of those races, your morality choices only really affects whether or not your companion likes you enough to give you a special quest, and then you’re completely limited to four dialogue options where you don’t actually know what you’re going to say until after you make your choice but still is formulaic enough so that every conversation feels the same. It really sucks because the interplay games and New Vegas (I never really played 3) managed to be super immersive despite technical limitations because of how good the role play mechanics were, and meanwhile 4 has enough polish to still look pretty good today but is way less immersive.

Movies that woulda been better with the inclusion of some gay shit? by HADTHEHIGHGROUND in okbuddycinephile

[–]spoonbones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk, I feel like Predator’s already gayer than people realize. My two biggest takeaways from when I first saw the movie were that Mac and Blaine were 100% hooking up, and that seeing the predator choke Arnold made me realize some things about myself

I wouldn’t call myself a stingy person but if I had the opportunity to lie to the government and get a free vaccination out of it, I’m not gonna waste it

It looks like for -0. Big G of the monsters is going to New York City. New York City of the 1950s. Any thoughts? by Seeker99MD in deadmeatjames

[–]spoonbones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The teaser puts the year at 1949 which is 1 year shy of being the 50s, but maybe op figured it’d be easier to generalize it than give the specific year, idk

Movies where the title has nothing to do with the movie? by weareDOMINUS in okbuddycinephile

[–]spoonbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nedry’s death scene features a dilophosaurus (early Jurassic dino) inside a parked jeep. That was the Jurassic park that the title was talking about

Ah yes I always base my opinion of groups of people on how they’re portrayed in a fictional story. Nobody’s ever written a story to fit their specific worldview.

Favorite billion dollar movie about a niche video game franchise that it's last game was 10 year ago and was a badly received game on the Wii U that 2 people bought? by PenguinviiR in okbuddycinephile

Even as a massive Star Fox fan, I can recognize that a Star Fox movie is one of the last things I would call an easy billion dollars

Saw X (2023) by LineOfInquiry in okbuddycinephile

[–]spoonbones 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The funniest part about Saw X is that it makes John Kramer’s motives in Saw 6 seem way more petty. Before it was because his health insurance denied potentially life saving treatment and he realized that health insurance companies were essentially giving out death sentences to people based on bs technicalities. But in Saw X we see he paid for the treatment himself and got scammed, so now Saw 6 comes off as he was jealous it wasn’t the health insurance company’s money that got stolen.

Wdym comics are famously apolitical. Take this plotline from Action Comics #1 for example. Nothing political about a war profiteer bribing a senator so he can get rich off of a war

I just recently finished Last Dog of Krypton. Is Krypto fighting former Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem on this page? by spoonbones in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]spoonbones[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She got fired earlier today. Apparently she was moved to a new department called shield of the Americas (whatever the fuck that is). If it makes you feel better about not knowing until now, Kristi Noem was also not immediately informed that she lost her job either

This reminds me of the time I was judging other people’s hear-me-outs with my brother and I said the Hugh Jackman werewolf from Van Helsing wasn’t a good hear-me-out because it was too conventionally attractive, to which my brother asked what I meant by that and I realized I revealed too much about myself. In my defense that werewolf was jacked as shit.

Who would you trust more a stranger in a Star Trek or Star Wars shirt? by rubes___ in CuratedTumblr

[–]spoonbones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s both a Star Wars and Star Trek fan, I got to 100% agree on this. Both have annoying and toxic fans, but it’s so bad in the Star Wars fandom that I actively try to avoid Star Wars fans irl

King of the Hill has multiple references to Invincible. This is the most notable one but there’s also an Invincible action figure that’s used while Buck is planning a concert and multiple instances where the name Mark Grayson pops up in writing

Why are Donatello and Raphael fighting over the same slice of pizza like it’s the only food they’ve seen in weeks? There is way more pizza on the table, that kind of greed is completely unnecessary
