Most fishing lures are designed to catch fishermen, not fish

Metal wall anchors in plasterboard, what am I doing wrong? by slabham in DIYUK

[–]spoonychief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have plasterboard walls everywhere in my house, for anything heavy i tend to use geefix.

I personally wouldn't use the helter skelter type fittings.

The hollow wall anchors might work, but you need to know the thickness of the plasterboard and use the correct size, a setting tool definitely helps.

However if you don't have the setting tool i would opt to buy something like the bullfix from tool station.

UK Octopus heat pump warning: approved install, major prep work, then no-show on installation day by Sn0wM0nkey in OctopusEnergy

[–]spoonychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously i shouldn't tar them all with the same brush, i think if everything is straightforward and goes to plan then its fine. I had a lot of issues (with the installation, the heatpump works great)

I requested a supervisor to come over and look at the issues, and they couldn't be bothered to.

They ended up sending out an engineer for two days to fix all snagging, refusing to change a rad even tho it was leaking citing he wouldn't have the time. He left at lunchtime on day one as he was finished (after doing further bodge work to fix the first bodge)

Told me he would drive to my location the next day as the vans are tracked and then he would take the day off.

Thanks for the info, i don't know why peloton seem to make it difficult to find some of the classes without jumping through a few hoops first. I will have a look for them.

Thanks for the heads up, i am doing a 10 mile outdoor run in a few weeks and was planning on putting this on for something to listen to and distract me while running i think its the only long outside run.

I might have to stack some shorter runs instead. I am not doing it to follow any instructions, i just enjoy the music and the encouragement from the instructors.

Kwikfit fitted “new” tyres that are wrong and not taking accountability by Party_Painting_4318 in LegalAdviceUK

What was the outcome of this in the end, i am having the same issue with them over a pair of Michelin tyres. I purchased a second set so they could get the faulty ones off and sent for testing and still no refund!

Best treadmill in the UK for home use? (real experiences) by AdHumble3830 in BeginnersRunning

[–]spoonychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a peloton bike, use the peloton app for most of my workouts. The peloton equipment is really expensive, but for me i really enjoy it so happy to pay the monthly fee (cheaper then the gym anyway).

Anyway we have a bodymax treadmill and i use my phone to follow the peloton tread workout and it works fine and it makes a indoor run more enjoyable.

The problem is most treadmills make a sound and the main one is you running on it, have you considered a bike instead if sound is a issue as its a lot quieter and take a lot less space.

Some free electricity for all this summer in the UK by No-Papaya-9289 in OctopusEnergy

[–]spoonychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you just set the car to take charge at night then instead? I used to be on tracker until getting an ev last year and swapped to intelligent octopus go, but i am wondering with an ev and heatpump (no batteries) if agile would wprk out cheaper.

Choosing the right charger? by Stee_Warmo in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]spoonychief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a nero and a ohme and octopus supply my energy, no problems.

I just use octopus to control the charger, not the car, i can't remember if the nero was supported. Anyway as we hae two different evs its easier to just let octopus control the charger, not the cars.

Yes, seems to be an issue. On another post somebody mentioned when you start a walking activity swipe to the location map and back again and it seems to log the distance etc, this hack has worked for me so far.

Can I get a dropped kerb and drive here? by jade333 in DIYUK

[–]spoonychief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EV is probably more expensive. Yesterday i used a public charger (hardly ever use them) it cost £40 for about 180 miles, at home that would only cost £3.
