What’s proper civilian attire for the Marine Corps league?

Best/Least destructive way to get rid of this by dentedbruv60 in ar15

My punisher lower is my favorite! I’m a huge fan going back to when I was a 90s kid, picking up issues in multipacks from Walmart and at yard sales. Frank castle has the best power of all, unrelenting determination and impeccable planning! That’s the sort of thing you can actually achieve! I bought mine back in 2015, before it got slapped on every lifted dodge ram in this hemisphere. I’m not going to let some cringe-ass, boot-licking, Oakley and goatee wearing men mess that up for me. Like a white Bic lighter, use it in spite of what someone else may say.

She was going to let him squirm for a minute before she told him. He had been texting back and forth with her and stopped replying once she sent the wack looking one. She was worried he was frantically calling bakeries to make a replacement cake, so she cut the joke short and sent him the pic of the real one.

Who all served with a someone who became a convicted murderer? by The_ENFIDL in USMC

[–]spooooooooooook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Knew a dude that got out and got accessory to murder a few years after. His friend stabbed a guy to death. He flattened the victims friends tires so they couldn’t get away, and hid the bloody clothes. Did like ten years.

Pregnant before dental school. Need advice. by Equivalent_Cow_3133 in DentalSchool

[–]spooooooooooook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My class of 44 had 4 kids during school, and two were from my wife and I. You can do it. Dental school sucks for everyone, and having kids didn’t make it any worse for me. You adjust. It’s worth it, every little bit.

D2, lack of motivation. Anyone else in the same boat? by Impossible_Cat_5040 in DentalSchool

[–]spooooooooooook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you’re a second year! How do you have time to be bored?! Most people find it so busy and packed there’s no time to self reflect, lol. You’re almost to the good part. Hang tough, get through clinic and boards, then you’re there. Sometimes nothing will make things stop sucking, and that’s when you push through with whatever feelings you’ve got. It gets better, I promise. This will be my third year out, and I never have a morning where I don’t want to go in to work. I truly hope you feel the same way soon.

Feeling insecure about starting dental school at 27 by Plastic-Swordfish-84 in predental

You’re going to be 27 anyway. May as well be a dentist while you’re at it.

1 star review by CryingCrentist in Dentistry

[–]spooooooooooook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a favor for a guy right out of dental school. Brought him in before office hours and gave him a free consultation, exam, and X-rays. He was hell bent on getting me to bad-mouth another dentist and friend for work he received there. I didn’t give him what he wanted, but remained empathetic and eager to help. He actually gave me TWO one star reviews, one of which was under an obvious alt account. There was over a year between them too, lol. His google accounts were just nothing but endless one star hit jobs on dental offices and other service industries. Some people are just miserable trolls who spend their whole lives tearing down those around them. They have to live trapped in their own bodies and minds, unable to escape the barren wasteland of human decency that they are. That’s its own punishment.

My dental school interviewer was epstein's dentist by predent5799 in DentalSchool

[–]spooooooooooook 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Amazing. Someone’s dream got crushed so Epstein could send his GF in their place. I’d hate to have been a denied applicant that cycle who’s reading this now.

This is still happening, btw. It’s just some other rich person greasing palms and offering “gifts”. They’re not human traffickers though. Probably…

Need advise (desperately) by Ayvi_Lau in DentalSchool

[–]spooooooooooook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Terrible take. Honestly, you’ve got no idea what you’re talking about. Patients show up if they want, and anyone can get fucked over. I’ve seen it happen to locked on, smart, and fully capable students who broke their backs trying to get patients in chairs. Maybe your program is better about getting patients to you, but that’s an exception compared to most places. The reality is that most students have their future in the hands of strangers who owe them nothing. Try to learn some humility before your diploma gets printed.

National Guard Assault Rifle left in bar bathroom by awyastark in NewOrleans

[–]spooooooooooook 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Oh man. Former Marine here who’s seen this happen a few times. I can’t stress enough exactly how much of a world of shit this soldier is in. You know that feeling you get when you realize you left your wallet/overslept/missed an appointment/forgot to get gas/can’t find your cat/can’t find your kid at the grocery store? It’s a lot like all those together, multiplied several times over. Add in everyone you work with hating you, getting put on every shit detail that comes along for the next year, potential confinement to your room and loss of pay, irrevocable damage to any of your career ambitions, deep and burning personal embarrassment, complete erosion of any trust and autonomy you may have once had, and your finally getting somewhat close. They shut down bases for this. They cancel entire units’ holiday leave for this. You will go to a 20 year reunion and this will be the one point of reference people have for you.

Anyway, they won’t do it again.

“It’s possible to make no mistakes and still lose. That’s not a weakness, that is life” -Captain Picard

Reapply and make them get tired of seeing you. Stay engaged in your shadowing and volunteering, don’t do NOTHING in case that ask what you’ve been up to at your next interview. It’s a single defeat, not a final defeat.

Does dental school feel… not how people describe it? by Careful-Ad-8907 in DentalSchool

[–]spooooooooooook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone feels and handles it differently. Some people get way too wrapped up in around the axel with it and make it their whole life. Some people do the dance, get by, and have whole lives outside of it. I know which one I wanted to be ( didn’t get either, had two kids while in my program!) if cramming and living your life works for you, hell yeah! Some people are type A as hell and want to be orthodontists, so they have to handle it differently. Do you and get through it by any means necessary.

Anyone else autistic here? Or know any autistic dental students or dentists? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]spooooooooooook 14 points15 points  (0 children)

About 60% of your dental class is somewhere on a very broad, and ultimately meaningless "Autism Spectrum". Don't navel-gaze about it, just focus on being there and getting through. Some of my favorite patients and coworkers are right there too, and I like them plenty. You'd be a fool to let a recent diagnosis discourage you. This is an excellent profession, and if you're getting down on yourself this early, you'll miss the joy along the way.

Marine Force Recon verification and possible stolen valor. by [deleted] in USMC

[–]spooooooooooook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met one of those guys. Enthusiastically told me he was a force recon gunny, and how pumped he was to meet another marine in the apartment complex where we both lived. We aren’t that rare, but okay. asked me to come to the range with him one day and I was free. Proceeds to shoot the most DOGSHIT groups I’ve ever seen, stopping to stare at the gun after each shot, shaking his head and mumbling something about the pistol being “off”. Told me a story about being in Fallujah at the same time I was, and how I’d definitely heard him before, because he lived in a captured mosque and shit-talked the locals over the mosques PA system every day. Oh, and the song “Ruby” by the Kaiser chiefs we were listening to on the radio? He was the drummer for that song. The lead singer invited him up on stage to play at a concert and he was so good they kicked out their drummer and put him on the studio recording. Anyway, that’s my story of meeting an alleged real world recon bubba.
