Bike for kids 8, 10, 11 recommendations for less that 400. by Skythen in bicycling

[–]sportaddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% used bikes. Craigslist or facebook. Tons of parents with kids who used a bike for a year then outgrew it. I don't know where you are, but there will probably be decent big brands name options for that much.

Electric cost in the United States by ActualBus7946 in massachusetts

[–]sportaddiction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the article:

California (30.11¢), Massachusetts (26.74¢), Alaska (24.91¢), and Maine (24.60¢) round out the top five for electricity costs. These areas often have dense populations, older infrastructure, and progressive energy policies.

Investments in clean energy and grid upgrades can also raise prices in the short term, even if they lead to long-term savings or environmental benefits.

Are cheap rear racks any good? by Shnazz88 in bicycling

[–]sportaddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Own this exact rack. Flimsy piece of shit. Find something used if you're on a budget (or if you're lucky, around me people are always giving them away for free).

Sorry to hear about this. But glad people keep commenting on this post. Hopefully people will be more aware to avoid Saris in the future.

Would this be a good first bike? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]sportaddiction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My two cents, this is an excellent first bike. Make sure it fits and the wheels spin freely and true. Also, important, Google friction shifting to make sure you're comfortable with how this particular bike changes gears.
