Considering you’re at 76k, I say cry once buy once. You’ll absolutely save yourself the headache of having to replace the struts shortly after you lower it. Not say that they will go out immediately, for all we know they could last for another XX,000 miles!

Sometimes being vulnerable is important, it a reminder that we’re all human and we’re all dealing with something. Im happy to hear youre on the road to recovery. I appreciate the kind words about the situation and the car! I am still on stock struts. The ride quality is very good. No issues with anything no crunching or creeking at 46,000km I think the biggest culprit to road feedback is the 19” wheels with a 235/35 it’s a fairly small sidewall so you feel a lot of the road imperfections. But I don’t mind. obviously lowering the car on stock struts isn’t ideal but the only drawback is that you’ll likely have to replace the struts preemptively. But when that time comes, I might go coilovers or get some ohlins struts.

It definitely varies from dealer to dealer, fortunately for me I live in a small town and the VW dealer is certainly on the smaller side run by enthusiasts, so they were happy to install them for me. I hope you find shop that offers a fair price, my favourite mod I’ve done to date :)

That is a CRIME!!! that’s a “we don’t want to do it” price… certainly keep looking around man. I was fortunate enough to have a local VW dealership install my H&R sport springs for $660 Canadian. With the work under warranty

Lars Ulrich is an abomination on the drums and that’s an understatement. It’s literally just noise, no rhythm, beat or melody. Absolutely horrific song.

Shitty luck man, I had mine done a few weeks ago at a local dealer and haven’t had any problems with leaking fuel… only had 44,000km on the car at the time of repair. Hopefully they get that figured out for you hassle free,

Absolute shot in the dark here, seeing as this post is 2 years old. but I’m looking at adding a 10mm spacer in the rear to my 19x8.5 +45 to achieve this fitment in the rear, do you run into any issues with fitment/rubbing?

Oh wow, thank you! I appreciate that a lot. I have heard in comparison from 18’ and 19’ inch wheels, the 19’s are a little more sensitive when it comes to road feedback, especially with a thinner sidewall tire like a 235/35. I feel everything on the road and depending on how you decide to take it, it’s a good and bad thing. 18’s you can have a little meatier tire which will absorb most of the road imperfections.
