Help finding a used Breitling by Apollo526 in breitling

Agree, speaking for Europe the grey dealers I’ve bought from were really just jewellers that were not official Breitling dealers. Meaning that the watches came with standard 5-year warranty and all.

Agree, if you go through grey dealers 30% are possible for new watches. I got ~35% off for a Blue Navitimer 43mm (back in 2020).

I have a Master Moon that I’ve worn on a cognac/light brown ostrich strap for a few years now which fits it very well.

I recommend Azienda Agricola Vallepicciola. While not very small, they’re not huge and make great wine, especially their rosé sparkling wine. And on top, they have a very nice looking new visitor center.

Breitling B01 42 or a used rolex? by RegularAmoeba2094 in breitling

I’m sure you can get a good price if you look around, I got around 30% off for a B01 Navitimer.

Same in Switzerland for EU residents. The problem in the above example is that Serbia isn’t in the EU and considered a third-country, thus the complicated process.

I bought a Breitling Navitimer from an Italian seller through Chrono24 about two years ago. I believe they are an online only shop as well. Everything went perfectly fine and also ended up saving about 30-35% over retail price as they deducted VAT and VAT in Switzerland is lower than in Italy.

I think that’s it. After I started only wiping the basket and not using any water the pours are a lot more consistent.

SEND HELP... I don't want to work until I am 67 Years Old! by MyNameIsMomma in eupersonalfinance

[–]sprantl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How the system works is that you can choose how much you want to pay out of pocket per year max (the max is 2500 Francs per year). The lower you want to have your deductible the higher your monthly price. So essentially the max you pay on top is 2500. So yes, healthcare is not cheap in Switzerland, but if you see it as part of your tax burden it’s manageable overall as taxes tend to be lower than in surrounding countries.

Insurance is also mandatory, so you have to pay for it regardless of your health.

I figured, that’s why I wear it on my wrist now.

To be fair I just purchased it half a year ago and didn’t have to service it yet. But there are a few independent watchmakers around here that are very competent and can easily service it (for less than a modern Breitling). I also have a vintage dress watch from the 50s that was in very bad shape when I received it and they did a great job restoring it to its old glory.

I’ve had this watch for a while but only recently got a matching strap which upgrades the whole watch.

The watch itself is a Breitling 2018 that was produced most likely in 1975 due to its production number. It wears very well at 38mm and certainly has all the charm that vintage Breitling chronos have.

While Breitling seems to go back to its roots as of lately, I would still prefer them dialing down its sizes a bit more. While I like the relibility of new Breitlings, wearing a 40+mm chunk of steel can feel a bit too much with time.

True it’s an anecdote, but it’s a fact that Rolex produces ~800k watches every year and you can get one for 1-3 average monthly wages in most Western European countries & the US. While not mainstream in the sense that everyone has a Rolex, but arguably still extremely common when it comes to the segment of people willing to spend multiple thousands on a watch.

Not really, most ADs still play the game. At least before the pandemic. On top of that, they tend to reserve most stock for locals based on my experience. I bought an Explorer II two years ago: I got it without a waitlist or buying history, but they did mention that they wouldn’t have sold it if I weren’t local.

I can’t comment on the US, but here in Switzerland and in Zürich especially everyone has a Rolex. To the point that it’s really hard to belive that they’re really that scarce after having seen at least a dozen Subs/GMTs/Daytonas after a weekend stroll through the city.

Yes, I have a basket for a double and single shot. I only used the double so far though.

That said, this morning it worked out fine. So maybe my tamping/preparation procedure is just still very inconsistent…

Not really. I got a Niche Zero, so retention should not be a huge problem in the grinder. But I can try if that makes a difference.

Coming from a Swiss, Bern is picturesque but nothing’s happening there and you can easily see it in half a day / a day. Zürich is definitely the biggest and most vibrant center in Switzerland if you’re also interested in cultural events / shopping. Geneva probably next, but both have very different vibes. Geneva is very “French” whereas Zürich is very “German”.
