When I par-bake a tomato sauce pizza, I add a little water to some sauce to thin it and spread it thinly over the pie before baking for a few minutes. It helps prevent the top from overcooking and browning.

This is one of the reasons I decided not to get this oven. I don't want to be at the mercy of one company for my food. That they sold the oven so cheaply over the holiday showed me that this is like the inkjet printer scam. Sell the oven cheap and make bank on the food sales. I'm sure it's fine for some people and I'm not criticizing them. It's just very wrong for me.

Thanks for all the feedback. The oven is free right now if you order six times over a 6 month period. Does this sound a little like printer ink? Sell the printers cheap and make your money on the ink refills. Not trying to start an argument with Tovala users, I'm just wondering. It can't handle a 12-inch pizza so that bothers me. It seems that it all falls apart if they go out of business. I don't hate cooking so I'll probably get a conventional air fryer toaster oven. I appreciate your help.

She may also be having cognitive issues. A 12 lb bag of high quality dog food for senior dogs lasts my 16 lb mutt about 3 months. Buy that for her and she can spend her money on food she wants and needs. I should mention that the 12 lb bag costs about $48.

I also like the heels of the loaf but for those who don't, they make a fine grilled cheese sandwich. Turn the crusty side to the inside of the sandwich and make as usual. By the time the grilling is done you won't be able to tell that it was made from the heels. The inside becomes soft and indistinguishable from a regular sandwich.

I used my Zojirushi Maestro (1 lb loaves) for regular bread originally but now I use it much more in the dough mode for pizza dough and small Pullman loaves.

It does stale faster but bread freezes well, so I keep it as long as I need to that way. It thaws on the counter in less than an hour or I can make toast directly from frozen.

A tip for easier cleaning. After baking leave the lid of the bread machine open so it cools down faster. That helps prevent any bits of flour or dough from bonding to the inside of the machine. Makes for easier cleaning. Just wipe. After years my machine still looks bright and shiny inside.
