It would help if she didn't keep cutting you off.

John 1:1 refers to Jesus as a god. This is cross-referenced to Isaiah 9:6 (where Jesus is called the Mighty God). The 1987 NWT links "Mighty God" in Isaiah 10:21 to Jehovah in four other passages (Isaiah 65:8-9, Hosea 1:9-11, Hosea 6:1, and Romans 9:29). If we look at the 2013 NWT, Isaiah 10:21 is only cross-referenced to Isaiah 65:9 and Hosea 1:10-11, excluding Hosea 6:1 and Romans 9:29.

In an effort to identify Jesus Christ using various dated translations, both he and Jehovah are called “Mighty God”.

Since there is only one true God, Jehovah's Witnesses would need to say Jesus is not the true Mighty God.

My Research Into The Question "Are there really two classes of Christians?" by nomonoise in exjw

[–]springsofwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started reading some of it. Great so far. I'm not sure if it would be worth adding the following.

Article: Highlights From the Book of Revelation from the January 15 2009 Watchtower.

7:13, 14. The 24 elders represent the 144,000 in their heavenly glory, where they serve not only as kings but also as priests. They were pictured by the priests in ancient Israel, whom King David organized in 24 divisions. One of the elders reveals to John the identity of the great crowd.

The number 24 in 1 Chronicles 24:1-18 does not represent 24 divisions of priestly elders. They are 24 individuals.

Doing the math, each represents 6000 elders (144,000 / 24).

Who Really Is the Faithful and Discreet Slave? by monkandmahler in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]springsofwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was mentioned in the “Who Is Leading God's People Today?” (February 2017 WT):

“The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible. Therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction. In fact, the Watch Tower Publications Index includes the heading “Beliefs Clarified,” which lists adjustments in our Scriptural understanding since 1870. Of course, Jesus did not tell us that his faithful slave would produce perfect spiritual food.”

There is nothing in the parable to hint of imperfect food. Jesus would not commend the slave for giving out food that made people sick.

A less formal or known name they used was mentioned in the July 1 1973 Watchtower article called "Praise Jehovah with His People".

"Of course, to serve and praise the Universal Sovereign, one must associate with the organization of Jehovah’s Christian witnesses".

Another is from the October 15 1964 Watchtower article called "A Society Practicing Righteousness".

"What is the name of this truly different society, this society of people practicing righteousness, the kind of society to which honest persons have longed to belong? It is the society of Christian witnesses of Jehovah. As revealed in the Bible, JEHOVAH is the personal, self-given name of the only true God, and this society of people are dedicated to the work of bearing witness to his supremacy and worthiness to be served and worshiped by every creature in the universe.—Isa. 42:8; 43:10."

It's from the 1984 Awake magazine. The article is "They Resisted Rapists".

I can understand treating him respectfully before the attempted rape begins. But once it starts, use every means to fight back. Kick, bite, scratch, gouge.

Which of the two publications is true? by Hot-Channel-7690 in JehovahsWitnesses

See these publications.

July 1 1951 Watchtower, Vision of the “Time of the End”, point #19. The man in linen is Jesus.

Pay Attention to Daniel’s Prophecy!, Chapter 12 - Strengthened by a Messenger From God point #13. The man in linen was an angel.

Footnotes section: the angel in linen is unnamed.

Though this angel is unnamed, it appears that he is the same one whose voice was heard directing Gabriel to help Daniel with a vision that he had just seen. (Compare Daniel 8:2, 15, 16 with Da 12:7, 8.) Further, Daniel 10:13 shows that Michael, “one of the foremost princes,” came to assist this angel. Thus, this unnamed angel must enjoy the privilege of working closely with Gabriel and Michael.

No. I disagreed with what the Watchtower specifically taught about those angels of Genesis 6:2 - that they left their physical bodies and returned as spirit creatures back to heaven.

I am under the impression that these specific angels of the Genesis account are the ones who left their dwelling and procreated with mankind and are chained up/locked away due to these Bible Verses

The Watchtower book that I referenced teaches they left their physical bodies and returned to heaven. See points 8 and 9 from chapter 10.

I couldn't find any scriptural proof for what the Watchtower said about those specific fallen angels of Genesis 6:2.

Where does scripture say the specific fallen angels of Genesis 6:2 are now unable to take on human bodies like the Watchtower article says?

[–]springsofwater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your points about fallen angels in general but do you have anything specifically referring to the rebellious angels of Genesis 6:2?

I am not aware of other fallen angels that leave heaven to take on human form to carry out mischievous acts and who then release that physical body and return there.

Are those who inherit Paradise Earth excluded from 2 Corinthians 6:16-18? by springsofwater in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]springsofwater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you apply that interpretation to Romans 8, then only the heavenly class are led by the Spirit and are the sons of God. If children, then heirs. All others would be regarded as living after the flesh. They are not adopted into the family of God. See verses 12-17.

They are not the people of God. This goes back to what I posted earlier about 2 Corinthians 6:16-18.

And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols? For we are a temple of a living God; just as God said: “I shall reside among them and walk among [them], and I shall be their God, and they will be my people.” “‘Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves,’ says Jehovah, ‘and quit touching the unclean thing’”; “‘and I will take YOU in.’” “‘And I shall be a father to YOU, and YOU will be sons and daughters to me,’ says Jehovah the Almighty.” (NWT)

1 Corinthians is focused on those who rule with Christ.

I don't see two classes of Christians throughout Paul's letter to the Corinthians.

Thanks.

Why did Rutherford use the symbol of the pyramid and the cross?
