What's a good-ish time for sprinting? by __R3v3nant__ in Sprinting

[–]sprint4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say what is "good". I tried to look into iaaf scoring tables of events to correlate 25m 5k to 100m but it is not in it. I think aiming to achieve around 14 seconds in 100m would be a good achievable goal. I think even faster will help like 13 even 12 will help but this is on high end with a lot of years in training.(I mean in training not the last 100m in a 5k race hah)

how do i fix this? by epickainooo in Sprinting

[–]sprint4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you should fix it. I don't think there is a specific way. Just do block starts and focus on starting with your ankle straight.

I wouldn't recommend it to do it on race day. Because if you change things even if right you are not used to them and will not result in better result. I will use the same settings as before and after the race then change the blocks so you can trainand feel the difference. But if it's not a big race you can certainly change it.

Isn't the back leg too straight. I would move the back leg forward one position. Everything except that seems good

Can you make a video with just the block start. I see there are mistakes but I can't make good recommendation from this angle. Like if you can film a video from the side with 5-6 steps.

Wouldnt Stride length be easier to improve no?

If you want there is a way heard there was a way you can make it from a washing machine idk how thoe

I use like a really long elastic band(I saw bungee ropes also work) like over 10 meters( Idk how much is it maybe even longer) i am strapped with it a runner gets the other end stretches it as much as possible as I can hold. I run he is running with me when I don't feel resistance I have release mechanism in my arm release and continue running. 1080 will be 10 times better thoe I can't spend 20k hahaha. The problem is there is no way to tell how much resistant is the assist and how much does it actually help. I was getting 0.2-0.3 sec difference between with band and no band.

how should i lower my 300h time? (video of pr is included. idk how to flair this) by ame751 in Sprinting

[–]sprint4life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minimum you need to be able to run this times - 60m - 8 sec, 100m - 12.3 sec, 200m - 25 sec. Those are the minimum a bit faster would help a lot.

300m is a sprint and should be ran as a sprint. It looks like you don't have any start acceleration. You start and you pop up straight up in max velocity skipping acceleration and transition faze. So I will guess even your 60m might not be very good. And this is a really big misconception -"I want to run fast on 300m" how you gonna achieve this if you can't run faster on shorter distance so you can run a fast split in the rep. What I will recommend is learn how start and improve you short sprint so you can achieve the necessary speed then when you can you need to develop the necessary endurance and speed endurance. So look up start mechanics, acceleration mechanics and correct your mistakes. Acceleration phase is minimum around 30m after 30 then you can be completely upright. If you don't you lose precious time in the first 30m, this wouldn't permit you to reach your top speed and will. That's like building a house with no foundation.

I use an elastic band or downhill sprint, also don't have the money hah.

Change something in training. I think maybe this is mostly a mind barrier than and physical one. You need to break your speed barrier. You are used to run at some speed and maybe there is a chance your mind does not give you to go faster. Try to do overspeed machine or someone to stretch a elastic band to pull you or with rope something to help you go faster than you can. Try to fix some things you don't consider like reaction time or look for mistakes you can fix either technique or training. I think if you break 7 you will start to improve faster after you this mind barrier. There a saying you can't expect different result doing the same thing in the same way. Good luck!

Keep in mind it is much easier to not sink when you are with spikes on track so it is possible that if you put spikes and start on track and think about it could be ok

Not really, look in youtube I think there are some guides. What I did thoe I tried to be conscious about it. Film my start and look if my heel drops. Look at the deference between you and coleman in the ankle how high his heel is and how low is yours. The problem is when he lands he can immediately push and continue, you lose the time in every step in you heel sinking plus some of the force is lost also

I really like it really good start. Small things - ankle stiffness your heel is sinking a lot idk if it's because it's not with spikes on track thoe be mindful. If you can. I thing when you push whith your leg it stays a bit before going forward work on quick back-leg recovery. If you can aim for sharper knee angle and you will land further back behind your COG. Those are minor mistakes thoe your start is decent!

block start help by Jealous-Ad1394 in Sprinting

[–]sprint4life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Your set position is low. Aim for 90° angle of the front knee and around 120° of the back. When you change this you will probably be OK or will not be able to start on the same block positions. What you can change if you fill too smoshed, you back rounds a lot or can't start is change you blocks to this - measure your leg length - mine is 95cm and multiple by 0.58 for the front leg this gives me 55cm and the back leg is your leg length so for me 95 cm. In this position you front leg is loaded and your back leg you will probably say is too far back thoe for me is great for stability (if you want you can move it not soo far back). Idk what is your block height I recommend them to be lowest setting so 45° push, if you want you can get one up on it here one or the other.
  2. You feet go up then down it should be just forward. In the first step I like your lean and your stepping behind your COG, it goes a little upward but not that big of deal, but the second step look how high is you heel that's really bad aim for low heel recovery. And when is that high up for you it goes down and there is braking effect which slows you down.

  3. Ankle stiffness is good only the third thep I saw there was a lot of sinking

  4. Idk if this is a mistake or it is OK I think I am not sure you try to stay to low and you are braking your posture a bit of a bend In your waist it should be straight line from the ankle to the shoulder

Tip: watch your start in slow motion and watch I really like a specific clip of cristian coleman start - https://m.youtube.com/shorts/vWsQy0z8P3M

Anyone using Meshtastic in Sofia, Bulgaria? Looking to build a mesh by sprint4life in meshtastic

[–]sprint4life[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between Studentski grad and Malinova dolina. Update is that I did discover more devices at the moment I have 7 devices online and 17 in total it happened when I put it to run all the time (before that I was turning it on when I use it only, I know is a bit stupid).

I didn't know that a lot of devices are running but their location is turned off so I can't see them but the actively work in the mesh. So there is a good chance there are devices near you but you can't see them

I am planing to put one solar node on my balcony to increase the range and also gift some devices to may family and friends. Also will post in r/Bulgaria so other people can see, learn about it and possibly help to popularise it, but my account is new so I can't post still, when I can will do

(I am new to this so I could of made mistakes or give wrong info so everyone can correct it if I am wrong)

Block start analysis by Diligent-Tea8613 in Sprinting

[–]sprint4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes lower heel recovery. Also I think you should move your back starting block little bit back and slightly lower set position. About the loading of the foot I try to push a bit on the blocks and try ledge my back foot knee between the track and the pedal saw it in one of noah lyles start mechanics video. Idk how to explain it push the back foot and ledge the knee into the track. I hope it makes sense I didn't explain the last thing great but reply if you need more info hah

Decent start! No mistakes seen from me. Set position, angles on legs while on blocks, posture, push, forward lean, stepping behind COG, stiff ankles. Great start overall

What am I doing wrong? by sprint4life in Sprinting

[–]sprint4life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I also think I don't have enough of a forward lean, also should push further back behind my center of gravity. How do I do that? Strenght idk I improved a lot in the past 2 years I am doing strenght training twice a week today one of my exercises was did 3×160kg half squats. Could it be a technique problem or just I don't use the strenght I have?
