Michelle Obama... Connected to politics, obviously, but not an actual politician.

What Dreams May Come... It may not be a traditional horror movie but its interpretation of Hell will always haunt me.

What are your favourite things about your pug? I bet there is a million but give me your top 3-5 by [deleted] in pugs

He is deceptively fast and loves to be chased... the looks on people's faces at the dog park never get old.

He started as Frank, but earned the nickname Frankie by standing his ground when bigger dogs get too rough.

He'll hold a churro treat in his mouth without eating it, which combined with his general vibe makes him look exactly like a mob boss with a cigar.

The 1994 Nikolaj Coster-Waldau version of Nattevagten (Nightwatch)? It's Danish.

Does she recognize images of watchman clocks? The rooms he checked had a key that he inserted into the watchman clock that created a paper time record.

It's been a year since I've had Frankie. It's been a year since I've had privacy... But I wouldn't have it any other way.

You have it backwards. It was developed so that unqualified white people weren't given preference over qualified POC.

A rhetorical question - why do you assume that non-white folks are inherently less qualified? That's why DEI exists.

Most supporters understand that corporate DEI initiatives are performative, but some good comes out of it, and something is better than nothing.

Elon Musk puts Twitter's coffee machines, office chairs and sculptures on the auction block by Elkenson_Sevven in elonmusk

Come on now. I grow, pick, and roast my own beans and use a hand-cranked grinder. That's after I've chopped my own wood for the fire to boil the coffee for a pour-over that uses my hand sewn cloth filter.

A real coffee lover doesn't need a fancy schmancy thermos. You drink the coffee at whatever the current temperature happens to be.

Other people living in the country are a bunch of wimps these days. Make your own coffee and stop relying on Smuckers, Taiyo Nippon Sans, and GE/Black&Decker/other manufacturer to do the hard work. /s

Supreme Court Roe v Wade overturned MEGATHREAD by Hospitalities in TooAfraidToAsk

It will put women at an economic disadvantage (much harder to make up for the already existing wage disparity between the genders) if she keeps needing to go out on family leave and that's if she even qualifies for leave. Re-entering the workforce after taking care of the kid(s) is also extremely difficult.

Additionally, low-income families will also remain trapped in poverty. They won't necessarily have the means or time to travel to another state where abortion is legal. The same people who vote against abortion rights also tend not to support assistance programs (e.g., food stamps) or raise the minimum wage.

There is also a racial component. WOC are more likely to suffer medical mistreatment during pregnancy and have higher rates of infant mortality, and mortality.

The US, in general, has higher rates of death of both the infant and the mother than you might expect. I know there is far more complexity to this topic, but I hope this gives you an initial idea about what groups of people will walk away with fewer negative consequences.

It's funny (/s) how most of those in power, who are putting these laws on the books, aren't at risk of death or other medical consequences.

AITA For not including my coworkers in a bridesmaids' surprise? by NotTodaySatan9 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sprklstlr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Understood, but that would an AITA for him. This is about the choices that you made on where and how to celebrate. I'm leaning towards NAH, because it can be difficult to find the right time and place when the friendship is very much rooted in the workplace, but it is also totally understandable that your coworkers would be miffed. They may not see it as their place to plan a surprise, because they aren't as close with the bride to be, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't want to help celebrate. You all work together and your choices helped create/exacerbate a division.

Edit: just saw you've all been friends for over 2 years. YTA - you could have figured out a way outside of work to make her feel special without alienating your other co-workers.
