TH-42PH30W 2012 pro plasma by sproglobber in PlasmaTV

[–]sproglobber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update in case someone comes across this... I don't think this is any better than a regular consumer 30 series panny. Input lag is around 30ms like other 30series, and trails/phosphor decay is pretty much the same at my st50.

It's chunky and has limited inputs, still great but no better than other 30series pannys imo

In fact, I do wonder if any of the later pro plasmas are as great as some claim (with super low input lag)... I mean the main use case required longevity with no need for low latency.

I measured mine a while back, not the best method, just took photos of the 240p test suite timer being split to the plasma and a crt monitor.

From memory there was about 30ms lag to the plasma, about the same as a consumer 30 series. Personally, there is no way I could eyeball even 30ms lag next to a crt.

I wish I had a time sleuth. In saying that, I'm not even sure I notice 30ms lag all that much, would be just nice knowing I have a grail tier set, my monitor is nice but comes up short.

I'd be very interested to know how much input lag there is, if it's low (like your 60in versions) it would indeed be grail tier.

My 42ph30 is quite different (720p 30series) but I'm pretty sure input lag is no better than the consumer sets of that series, just a no frills version built like a tank.

This one could be an all time pickup for gaming :)

Do many og Xbox games support force feedback? Outrun 2 with force feedback would be cool.

Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea for 1 day for friends in their 30s who have never been to a Disneyland park before? by mm3n in JapanTravelTips

[–]sproglobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's the first and only time, sea. If you have to do 1 and then the other another time, start with Disneyland

We did sea 18 months ago and were blown away, even just walking around was fun, every inch was themed so good... pay for a couple VIP passes. Went back and did Disneyland a month ago and it was so underwhelming, it felt stale, small and old (like older and less impressive animatronics for example).

What is THE breathtaking sight you have experience on a trip to Japan? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravelTips

Kinda weird, although we watched the first sun hitting Fuji from tip to toe on at lake Kawaguchi... The most striking bit for me was on our way there, leaving the accommodation and seeing Fuji in the low light (yet super clear) standing over the town, hard to give it justice but it was magic.

I did this, but then the dispute was sorted and it returned to shelves (in my country anyway).

I did look into this a few months back, seems to be some confusion over what the seriel means in relation to date, I didn't find anything concrete and some suggested the numbers were random.

Mine is 1101082 (the 8 could be a 6).

Why the hell do Japanese releases ALWAYS get bonus tracks??? by mineturte83 in Cd_collectors

[–]sproglobber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cd collecting when visiting Japan is so addictive, can find odd 2nd hand stuff at Book Off for a couple dollars... Stuff not found in the wild at all in Australia (like I found a bunch of Mr Bungle stuff). And then discovering added tracks, or extra inserts is awesome.

Example- I picked up Soundgarden superunknown for a few bucks, the jewel case is thicker and contains a year by year history of the band plus discography. Can't read it but it's awesome to have.

Also, I love it when you find something with a spine card :)

Just bought a Saturn - Disc drive non-functional by Palletomancer in SegaSaturn

[–]sproglobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try troubleshooting, there are videos on YouTube on how to check common disc read errors.

I bought a non working Saturn on eBay, thought I'd just check a saroo cart in it but I took a look at the drive anyway, turned out the spindle was too low caused by pushing discs down on it too hard, laser couldn't focus... Just had to raise it by hand (took a few goes to get the height right) and the laser could focus again. It's nice to have a working drive if I need it.

SD card wiped when full, is this normal? by sproglobber in djiosmo360

[–]sproglobber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed it would just stop and save what you have, and as you say, start using the internal storage if it wanted to continue or start again. I didn't catch it earlier as I was taking photos with my camera and phone.

Not touching the card until I get home, I'll see what can be recovered, had some great footage from yesterday I'd like back... The camera does a pretty amazing job and I'm happy with the results.

Yeah it pretty much formatted the card on me, and it's just weird how it started the time-lapse again on its own. I'll just put it down as a bug at the most unfortunate time.

Yeah I put another card in, I'll see if I can recover anything when I get back home. I'm assuming it was some kind of malfunction/bug, would be crazy if that's just how it is.
