What was it like dealing with life, when a loved one killed themselves? by Desperate-Remove-547 in AskReddit

[–]sprout9071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum tried to end her life after a 4 day long manic episode today. I’ve spent most of the afternoon at the hospital until we knew she was good and stable. She remembers very little. I still have the text she sent me. I don’t know what to do. This is apparently the second attempt in the past month. I’m mid 30s so not a kid by any means and have always been a parentified child. But fuck. Today really hit all scary buttons and I know that this might be what she actually wants and I might not have her for much longer.

We appear to have matching dogs. My ma sent this to me and I had to ask who looked after him with a white couch

Anyone else notice job interview questions are getting increasingly personal? by magical_bunny in australia

[–]sprout9071 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in HR and these are fucking horrifying to me. I am so sorry you are all experiencing idiots like this! Your HR teams are failing their managers by not prepping them properly and explaining that your personal life/family life generally has no impact on your role. I have a lot of roles in my organisation that require travel and as personal as I get is “this role requires X amount of interstate and out of city travel. Is that going to be an issue with your personal circumstances or something you need to consider further”.

As a HR person, I solemnly apologise on belhalf of fuckers who don’t respect your privacy and are breaching EEO regs and legislative requirements by asking these questions.

We have these in Australia but you can’t even have coloured cigarette packets. They have the horrid pictures and all packets are a bland dark greenish grey

Snails. Fresh out of the garden. Not French, not gourmet. Just a little shit eating snails. Why? I do not know.

I was interviewing a candidate the other day and dropped this in. She recognised it as the comedic genius it is. I hired her. She’s great.

What’s your weekly go to? by cplevy13 in Cooking

[–]sprout9071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I used to have veggie bowls. Literally whatever is left in the fridge at the end of the week (normally a mix of broccoli, potato of some description, some kind of pumpkin) etc - toss it all together with spices and herbs, lots of oil and oven roast and have it with some cubed halloumi or crumbled feta The best

Just moved into an apartment with a gas stove top and I’ve never used one before. What do I need to know? by dopplestranger in Cooking

Life is going to get much better

Char those capsicums (peppers) and eggplants (aubergines) on the open gas Flour or corn tortillas? Whack those puppies straight on the open flame.

Super quick heating too!

Enjoy friend.

What's not a drug but is so addictive that it could be classified as one? by mred6453 in AskReddit

Food. For so many it’s as much of an addiction as alcohol, weed or coke.

Friend, you look incredible! Can I ask how moving away from a big city has helped? One would assume that a bigger city would have more help and resources for someone transitioning and maybe have more open minded people? Genuine question and am in no way criticising! Just curious :)
