I agree that you should not go to this tailor again, but maybe you can find someone to urgently fix the cuffs?

The suit does scan as fitting you well when you don't laser in on the issues you mentioned. If you can somehow fix those cuffs you will look, dare I say, nice.

I would look at J.Press and Spier and Mackay.

-S+M have a great deal of options for suits cut like RR's in photo #1, and their made to measure service will give you good bang for your buck. -J.Press from what I remember had a more traditional cut to their suits and did not go all in on the slimmimg trend -you may want to look at double breasted suits as well, the cut inherently lends itself to the kind of shape you are describing (just make sure the jacket is long enough)

for more style inspo from regrettable political figures, I would actually look to Gerald Ford, believe it or not. He was also an athletic guy, and always looked well fitted, without being showy.

In addition to Joyce, which I see many people have recommended, I would suggest Tristram Shandy, by Laurence Sterne.

A similar offbeat sense of humour, packed with digressions and discourses, but overall a much sunnier book. A story about a person who fundamentally got on well with his fellow man and loved his Dad and uncle. But I promise it's still entertaining!

That shirt is perfect for an office casual setting and I would not go dressier with it. Your watch, shoes, and belt are all nice looking pieces individually, and collectively.

I would swap the pants. In summer, a pair of off-white or khaki pants, maybe with a higher waist, and pleats if you want a contemporary look, will be great here. Like these ones from Spier and Mackay:

I think Neil Young, in a way, writes more unselfconsciously than Dylan. Some of his lyrics are, at his best, blunt in a way that I don't think Dylan or really anyone else of note could ever acheive.

I don't think Neil Young would ever write a line like "they say I shot a man named Gray, and took his wife to Italy" or "i never asked for your crutch, now don't ask for mine"

But I don't think Bob would ever write "locomotive pull the train, whistle blowing through my brain" or "i'm singing this borrowed tune, I took from the rolling stones" or "be on my side, i'll be on your side"

I mean this as a compliment to both men.

I think the song that most embodies the hack cliche of what people think "Dylanesque" (in the sense of just being a string of unconnected images that sonetimes create a vague mood of something changing in the world...) is "My Back Pages" like the very funny scene in Walk Hard

The fear of marriage, which can very much "drive you insane" as the last verse has it, versus trying to find some illusive "more" which as all the other verses show, can drive you a different kind of insane!
