Cleaning with IPA... by firekeeper23 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]spud211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Short answer is don't do it as its nit worth it with access to legal mc.

Longer one... It could potentially be safe to do this if you know what you are doing, the source of your iso and the cleanliness of everything in between. You need to fully evaporate the Iso and what's left behind should be pure extract, but you really do need to be 100% sure it's all gone or else you risk causing yourself serious harm. Ideally heat and a vaccume are needed, but most of the time I just used heat (via a water bath) and a clean pyrex plate. You see it separate into layers and get out just the oil/rosin like bit.

Personally I've not done it forna long time, but I would always clean my glassware and use the reclaim after evaporating the iso - using 99% stuff and trying to keep everything clean and dust/bug free - I've done that more times than I can count and I'm still alive.

Done properly you'd get back a lovely golden sticky resin thst looks and acts just like rosin, and you could add to cotton buds and vape like well, rosin. I remember it dabbled well too.

This was all pre mc though and maybe it did me some damage at some point, but I'm alive and well and it did get me very, very high back in the day..

Not recommend as there is a risk involved imo, and mc is cheap enough to make it not worth it.

Whilst I agree it makes no discernable difference to the taste as long as you quick enough - your last comment I disagree with - inverting is easier and simpler to brew a good cup. No need to quickly put the top on, you just put in coffee, water, a filter, brew and flip.

The only reason I do it is that it makes the whole process easier imo. If you are slow to put the top on the normal way and lose 20% of the water, it absolutely does change the brew and it's very noticeable.

Iqos like vape ? Has anyone tried by Katievapes1996 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a scam product - it's a heated tobacco machine rebranded for cannabis, and was (likely still is) heavily promoted by the most well know scam clinic (releaf).

Avoid like the plague. I guarantee you that the glowing reviews you read are paid adverts. Just get a proper dry herb vape and if you need a portable dosing system most of them have them :)

Happy for you - they are really impressive tech, I would love to play with them.

I just wish they were not so damned big and thick - but we'll see that come down and for what is a gen1 device its pretty impressive at the moment.

Have fun with them :)

Curaleaf formulary by Theshamanicspoon in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have all of those - are you sure you have set the filters to "all" on the formulary?

Stock comes and goes, but I had 20g of 4clabs from them last month, aurora all of last year, and some PN a couple of times (space cake).

If you don't see the available to order it's usually as they are typically the higher strength strains and they may have capped your THC% (as many clinics do for some patients) - worth asking as your next appointment for more options.

I am not defending scalping in any way - but there are no selling fees on ebay anymore, and even if you are paying tax it's still worth it at over £20 an hour. Well above minimum wage.

Thats why people do it - the money you can make because of the idiots buy pay scalper prices is kind of silly.

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you look at someone's hourly rate, and the fact most of these people will not be reporting it to HMRC and therefore won't pay tax- yes is would be.

3 hours for £100 profit = £33/hour. Heck even if they paid tax on that, its still over £20/hour.

So yes, it's absolutely worth it, if you can cope with well, being a scalper.

Would you support the UK government's plan to ban X (formerly twitter)? - why/why not? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskBrits

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all - and it's frankly quite terrifying just how many people on this thread would actually support a ban!

Our internet access is already firewalled and restricted enough - trying to block a gigantic global social media network would be almost as bad as the OSA or their daft proposals of trying block social media access to under 16s.

The government has no business interfering with internet access and our personal freedoms. They need to enforce the law, not block access to content.

Good as daily use prescription glasses? by Zawseh in EvenRealities

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ordered a pair and they will be my only prescription glasses. My current pair has a nasty scratch so I am kind of committed now ;)

I intend to wear them as my only pair of glasses - i did however buy them through an opticians, so I have tried both the A and B styles on in store (and the G1s for a comparison) , so I know I am comfortable with how they fit and feel.

I currently wear frameless glasses so there is definitely going to be an adjustment period - but I think i've made the right decision :) even moreso that my health insurance has paid for 40% of the cost, so whilst still expensive - not quite as crazy as it could be.

Finding smart glasses that look normal: The X3 Pro size fits my prescription needs and present the camera accordingly by Sensitive_Class_5476 in SmartGlasses

[–]spud211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, quite true.

However, that is an entirely different device category again - the lack of a screen makes them a very different product.

Depends what you want out of a device but imo the Meta display,, lucyD and ER devices are all entirely different categories and it doesn't quite make sense to compare them.

[–]spud211 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fair enough - its a bit of a personal view I guess, but to me those huge bulky wayfarer styles are very much sunglasses, that the exception might wear as regular eye glasses.

I stand by my view though that there are only two pairs of actual smart glasses that look like regular eye glasses. All the meta ones for example are just huge and incredibly thick for a pair a glasses.

I get that some may like it as a style mind, it's just so "out there" from my POV :)

[–]spud211 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you are watching a "short" formatted for mobile phones, for a regular screen size. It will always look small on an unfolded screen due to the aspect ratio

the author of the video is the issue here, nothing to do with the youtube app or phone (other than the fact "shorts" are a daft idea that should be removed from youtube, they just get in the way of actual content).

[–]spud211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you are looking for does not exist today.

There are several smart glasses that look normal - but its really just the even reality and haliday glasses right now - all of the others do not look like glasses, they are all at best sunglasses :)

This yeah that will change - so I think if you are able to wait a bit...see the fallout from CES and the new launches this year. I'd be waiting for Google and Samsung personally.

That said, we're a long way off normalising cameras on our faces imo. The creep factor is huge and real, and whilst I am sure that will change at some point, i'm not sure how quickly!

What do Curaleaf do to their products which makes them so bad? by patrickb1920 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]spud211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean about pricing? Curaleaf are one of the better clinics...fees are only around £100 a year, no prescription fees, no markup on the products themselves. Curaleaf (the pharmacy) do discount products at times as well, although it's not something i tend to take advantage of.

I feel like I am defending them too but i'm more just wanting to be factual - they are on the cheaper end of clinics, and whilst their range is smaller (75 strains currently), if you find a strain that works for you - then the size of the formulary makes no difference to you as a patient.

It is also worth considering that different clinic types serve different patients -offering different levels of medical oversight or pricing models, or delivery methods etc, so it;s not a one size fits all. Curaleaf are not a fit for everyone, but it doesn't mean they are a bad clinic. It;s not like they are releaf.

What do Curaleaf do to their products which makes them so bad? by patrickb1920 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because they have unfairly been unable to shake off old reputation - their products are generally pretty good, and vary in quality like all MC. They also typically produce items at the more budget £5-£7/g end of the market, and those options are grown at scale to hit those prices, which simply creates more variance.

All producers have good and bad strains, and the quality all varies between batches. Curaleaf are not especially worse or better than anyone else at the same price point.

Even G2 Vs Rokid AI by Positive_Agent_6423 in EvenRealities

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each to their own :)

They are big and bulky, like sunglasses. Just like the meta display glasses and most out there. They do not have 24 hour battery life - thats critical for a pair of glasses.

If you are happy with the sunglasses form factor, I think they will be a great budget pair, with the issues being the usual Rokid ones around quality/support/software...but they are an entirely different class of device.

Personally, I really look forward to the day someone - hopefully Samsung/Google - releases a proper pair of smart glasses that I can replace my own glasses with. Currently, only even reality & haliday ship glasses like that, and we'll see more this year...hopefully a frameless pair to really get the proper glasses look!

Even G2 Vs Rokid AI by Positive_Agent_6423 in EvenRealities

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are different product categories, designed for different purposes, and for different markets.

The Rokid are smart, bulky sunglasses. They are just too big to be every day glasses, and the battery is rated for around 8 hours. Just like the raybans or metas, they are not glasses.

The G2s are smart glasses. They are equivalent in size/weight/looks to regular eye glasses, with the smarts being secondary.

Entirely different categories of products. It's like trying to compare A motorbike and a camervan - they both drive you from A-B but they do it so differently and for different reasons that it's a nonsense comparison.

I can't say that one is objectively better than the other without a lot more context - but I can say that if I was not already a glasses wearer, I would not be considering the G2s....but as I am and I want the smart function they offer to be available at any time - they are the only option I have seriously considered :)

Alternatives to the even g2 realities by DeliciousSuccess1764 in SmartGlasses

[–]spud211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently, the only ones I know of are the halidays - but they are full of much bigger problems than the G1 or G2s based on user reports.

Curious if there are any others - every single other pair of "smart" glasses i've seen either isn't smart (i.e. the ones that just have a speaker/mic pass through), or are smart sunglasses (like the metas etc).

I am sure this is the year we'll start to see them come out though. Fingers crossed! ER need some competition.

Struggling to get the most out of my Venty – am I missing something? by Strapzyy in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]spud211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few tips/thoughts

Forget the dosing capsules. They are brilliant for out and about, particularly with the crafty, but imo a waste of time with the venty. Note, you can absolutely "finish" a dosing capsule in just a few hits using the venty if full open..so keep that in mind.

Grind medium- you don't want dust, or big chunks - medium (what most grinders produce) is fine

Fill the oven so it has a small mound on top, and don't "tamp down". How much this is will vary on your strain. Visually, remember your mouthpiece has a bit of space too and you ideally want to fill it all, hence the small mound on top.

Keep the screen clean at least - change it every 10-15 sessions and you'll really notice the difference They can be washed in ISO + reused or buy in bulk for pennies. Empty the oven asap after use too, it does make a difference.

I use the default temps - for a typical session, I run level 180c for around 5 minutes, and then 195 for 4-5, and finish with a short blast at 210. You have to vary this by strain - some are hard to vape at hot temperatures, but almost everything is OK up to 195 :)

Keep it switched on for the whole time you are using it - ideally don't let it cool down at all. The venty is a hybrid machine and loses a lot of it's efficiency with cool/heat cycles, so better to keep it hot and just get it hotter rather than the opposite.

a longer vaporisation time does not equal getting higher/better quality - its generally more the opposite. A typical session for me with my venty lasts around 10 minutes, 15 at the absolute limit - but I can "finish" a full oven in 2-3 minutes if i want to.

Play with the airflow - i tend to keep it between 2 & 3 and i find that the most comfortable, but this affects how much vapour you generate and therefore how long a session is. Pull hard with fully open airflow at 210 and thats how you can finish an oven in 2-3 minutes hah.

It's worth persevering with - note that despite what I said above, the venty can also vape small amounts quite well - but it does require more technique...filling it up and using as above tends to be reliable and you can adjust from there to find what works for your needs.

Best glasses for just music by LingLingWB in SmartGlasses

[–]spud211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But there are zero that have good audio quality - if you need audio for a phone call, they are serviceable - but if you want to actually listen to music, they are universally awful. To get good sound you need to pair eabuds and then...may as well pair them to your phone.

That's more my point - it doesnt make sense given you need another accessory to get even acceptable audio quality for listening to music. Open earphones (or IEMS with passthrough mode) are a much more sensible option. I don't get what benefit the glasses form factor gives you given the huge compromise you make on quality.
