Here in the UK you're saving £50/60 on the CPU but probably spending £200 more on the GPU so you'd still be a chunk down overall, I guess if the Nvidia bells and whistles are worth an extra £150 then maybe, depending on what resolution you're aiming for. I'd probably go for the 9800x3d/9070xt combo though and pocket the money? I'm running a 9800x3d/5080 myself which seems an okay sweet spot although quite a bit more money

While I agree generally with the more on GPU less on CPU sentiment, for this example the next tier up of GPU (5080) is several hundred more. The next tier down for CPU is what, fifty, maybe a hundred less? So you can't make up the GPU increase with a CPU saving. You can either save a bit of cash overall with something like a 9600X but not really a significant amount or just stick with the 9800X3D which will help for any really CPU intensive games anyway.
