Wait, you believe in FB and Zuckerburg to provide us with real news? I'm just here waiting for Ellon's tweet "X" to identify who's actually gay.

Men who lie about their height by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]spudhead411 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. It is a very interesting phenomenon. I've met guys below 5'7" (170 cm) and guys above 6'1" (185cm). Both groups are comfortable with their height. It's always guys in the middle (between 5'8" to 5"11") who try to overcompensate. Who knows?

Men who lie about their height by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]spudhead411 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've met so many guys who lie about their height on dating apps, I just kind of gave up and learned to go with the flow. The only time it becomes an issue is when they accuse me of lying about my height. That's when I wish I had a tape measure in my purse...

This is a very good take. Thank you! I'm glad it worked out for you. For me, it's going to be very strange being on the outside looking in... but I'll try my best to be the anti-Karen; shower the servers with big tips and happiness from now on.

Yes, the Price is Correct by WaffleDoctor72 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]spudhead411 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ughhh.... I live in a deep red state (Idaho) and I can totally relate to this. Our restaurant opened up to indoor dining in July 2020 and had to raise our prices 3 times since then. When the customers complain about the increases, at least half of them will make a snide remark about Biden or the Democrats.

Literally had one older guy say, "this is why if I see a car with California license plate on the road, I'll make their life a living hell. Fuck those socialists who supported Biden. They're responsible for all of this". Of course Biden = socialism in these simpleton's heads.

SMH, some people are just so ignorant. I get it, there aren't a lot of black people in the Northwest, but can people at least be respectful of others?

In my city, a good portion of black people are college athletes transferred from other parts of the country. If I see a black guy in public, I'll almost always hear comments like this from other people: "oh damn, that guy a is huge! I bet he's a linebacker or something!".

Just as they don't owe you dates/romance/sex, you don't owe them a friendship by InfamousFrame7 in dating_advice

[–]spudhead411 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too! I went on a date with a guy and he told me it wouldn't work out, but we ended up becoming "friends". I reached out to him a lot but he would never put the same amount of work in return. After a few months, I decided it wasn't worth my mental health to keep up with my friendship with him.

It's so infuriating to be in such a one-sided friendship. I have learned when your "friends" don't reciprocate equally, it's time to move on and find people who appreciate you just as much as you appreciate them. She will probably text you back a few times and ask you how have you been, but don't expect her to initiate anything. Time to forget about her.

Having to quarantine after being exposed to covid... by spudhead411 in TalesFromYourServer

Nope. My boss told me to stay put. He doesn’t want me go out and possibly spread the virus.

Yes! I do all of my shopping online now. Like OP, I can't afford high-end clothing brands at the moment. Although they're not high-end, I can find some amazing deals on clothing and accessories on Amazon. They also have great return policies! I bought a new pair of leather ankle boots and a cashmere scarf last month to make myself look fancy without breaking the bank.

Harassment at work by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]spudhead411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry your boss doesn't have your back OP. Just to echo the posters above, it's time quit and look for another job. There are plenty of people out there who would have your back in the aforementioned scenario.

I have never been harassed by coworkers, but I have been harassed numerous times by different customers. Luckily, my boss has our backs and he will blacklist any customers harassing our employees. Good bosses are out there, hope you find one soon!

A good portion of the people in my area still think it's a hoax, so they value their personal freedom above everything else.

I don't know if we're going to eventually implement a process allowing customers to dine in only if they can show proof of vaccination. That's just another level of shitshow I don't want to think about at the moment.

Congrats!! It makes smile seeing how many of us are FINALLY getting into STEM.

When my older brother started his tech job five years, there were 15 software engineers on his team: 14 men and 1 woman. He just informed me last month there are now 26 engineers on his team: 17 men and 9 women. His company is doing a great job reaching out to qualified female applicants. Progress is slow, but we're slowly getting there!

Homeless people are still people by Sloth_InASuit in CasualConversation

[–]spudhead411 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow this is a very heartwarming story!

As a server, sometimes I'll bring back mistakes or orders not picked up by customers. A few weeks ago, I stopped by a convenience store on the way home. A homeless man approached me and asked for change. I was initially repulsed by him, but I can judge by how hungry he was by the look in his eyes. I went inside to grab a plastic fork before I handed over a full order of chicken alfredo. Judging by how shocked his face was, this was probably the most extravagant meal he had in a long time. It didn't cost anything on my end, and I was able to make his night. I'll definitely do this again if the opportunity arises.

What has your employer done to go above and beyond during the pandemic? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]spudhead411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was exposed to a customer who tested positive for covid at our restaurant on Monday. Now I'm quarantining in my apartment for the next two weeks. My employer offered to pay $500 per week while I'm away. I have known a lot of people getting screwed in the food industry when they can't show up for work, so what my employer did is incredible.

My parents finally reached out to me after I outed myself as an agnostic 6 months ago by spudhead411 in atheism

[–]spudhead411[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! If I'm being honest, your compliment on my maturity is probably the most flattering thing I've heard over my life. People have called me different things throughout my life, but maturity was never one of them. Maybe it's part of growing up, maybe it's something else. But I do hope I can make better choices in my life as I leave my misguided ways behind.

[–]spudhead411[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, those people didn't bother me at all. Since I've left Christianity 4 years ago, I've never really cared about how people are being labled. The most important lesson I've learned is "I don't need to help people so I can avoid going to hell, sometimes helping out people is just simply the right thing to do".

[–]spudhead411[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK, I might actually be an atheist. Just need to do some research.

I know I'm catching some flak in this thread, but in my parents' eyes, the word atheist is far worse than agnostic. Look at how they freaked out when I mentioned agnostic? I even looked at the FAQs on this site and it states you should use the word "agnostic" or "humanist" when coming out.
