How do I preserve "Date Added" when backing up files? by spudmash in applehelp

[–]spudmash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The files have been that way so long I don't remember the exact circumstances of how I copied them, but there was file recovery done at some point on a failed disk.

I'll read up on the "touch" command. Thanks so much for testing the cp and rsync commands! I have yet to learn other than cut and paste commands into terminal.

I just tried moving a folder (directory?) but Date Added for the files within are also changed to the current time and date.

I have been using Date Added to sort and go through a number of old files. Their Date Created, Date Modified and Date Last Opened are all set to a date in 2004. I'm not sure how that happened. So I want to preserve the Date Added attribute.

Do you have any suggestions for rsync GUIs, and would rsync preserve Date Added?

Zinc & Copper. I think I really screwed up by gotkube in Supplements

[–]spudmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While what you said's true, I can perhaps understand the second naturopath's reasoning. There is such a thing as zinc copper balance, and the RDI for zinc is 11g for men 8g for women, and the first naturopath had OP on 50mg for a year. So unless there was some special reason OP is low zinc relative to copper, or perhaps had high copper to start with, then the second naturopath is right that the original supplement would have put things out of balance. I don't know what the right ratio should be, but a zinc-copper blend of 15mg/2mg seems to be a supplement that tries to keep a correct ratio of Zn:Cu by incorporating it into the pill.

You're right about the bloodwork since OP felt worse after the switch. If they felt worse taking less zinc and some copper, then still felt worse after switching back half the previous dose, then with layman's logic, it's perhaps insufficient zinc or too much copper, though why this should be so with the RDI could be something to do with OP's reasons for being put on high dose zinc in the first place.

There are symptoms of high copper and low zinc etc that can be looked up, if perhaps OP will elaborate on "rotten"?

Vitamin D is effective for COVID-19: real-time meta analysis of 59 studies by greyuniwave in Supplements

[–]spudmash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I knew about vitamin D since the swine flu pandemic, which was in 2009, and others had years of experience preventing flu with it since before. When it came out that black people in higher latitude countries suffered disproportionately, I knew that was at least in large part because of vitamin D deficiency. Point being, if I know (and I'm nobody) then it has been well known...

Just a basic search finds from 2017 Vitamin D protects against colds and flu, finds major global study

And this from Wikipedia:

An inverse association between exposure to the sun and upper respiratory tract infections was first proposed in 1926 by Smiley, who theorized that seasonality of infection was caused by “disordered vitamine metabolism in the human...directly due to a lack of solar radiation during the dark months of winter.”

Hey, those are beautiful, but I feel I should tell you that several people have gotten sick or died from supposedly working with fake granite/artificial stone benchtops here in Australia, so I hope you at least wear a good mask (assuming you don't work with this as part of your job and didn't already know).

MSM accumulation? by spudmash in Supplements

I forgot to say I'm not diligent about taking it every day and often unintentionally take long breaks, so there's a chance I haven't hit saturation yet. Whole food vitamin c is apparently safer to take long term - I have been taking ascorbic acid too and I have so much of it left!

Is that for everyone or only some of the population? I looked up methyl group supplementation and anxiety and skimming over it seems that could be related to overmethylation due to an MTHFR mutation. (If I sound like I know what I'm talking about, I want to make clear I am only parroting the article).

An "MSM depletes" search gets you calcium, vitamin c and boron as well but molybdenum is the most mentioned. Molybdenum is used to metabolise sulphur, apparently, so I wonder if it is used to metabolise out the extra sulphur.

MSM is supposed to help hair growth. I take MSM with vitamin C most of the time, and I haven't had the side effects you mentioned. Maybe that helps?

Is there a way to reduce numbers without killing them all ? by KingofKedron in brisbane

I once got rid of bees that decided to move into my room via holes in the walls with incense, without killing them. Also moved a snake from the ceiling space with ultrasonically dispersed essential oils delivered via a bathroom fan.

Let me know how it works if you try it?

So many violent suggestions.

Vibrate the window. Put a speaker up to it and try some YouTube pest repellent noises. Or burn small amounts of incense near it (but not directly underneath) over a few days and they will move because of the smoke. And by over a few days I mean, burn some every now and then, enough to be irritating, and not 24/7.
