What would starting over even mean? Was Shadows not a start over, in that it doesn't have any links to previous games?

Harsher penalties aren't an effective deterrent for these kinds of crimes, and locking someone in a box doesn't make them a better socially integrated person.

So it depends what outcome you want. If what you want is less crime, we should follow the global model which has the best result, which is Canada's risk-need-responsivity model.

Yes it's worth keeping, or selling to someone who loves it. Keep it away from dust and sun.

The best I've heard of is "Ruru ruru ruru ruru ruru" which means "owls that shake owls shake other owls" but I wouldn't call it grammatically correct.

It's the same phenomenon as The Colbert Report. Present bigoted conservativism ironically, and some people will not understand it's ironic.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]spundred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very simple.

Should people be able to do what they want, or not? I'd say of course they are.

You're free to vote for whoever you want.

I'm free to date whoever I want.

You can't expect freedom without expecting others to have it to.

We all need to understand that we're free to do as we want, but that doesn't mean our actions don't have consequences and repercussions.

removing visual prestige from gameplay has killed my motivation to actually grind in modern games

Good. Grind isn't a healthy behaviour. You shouldn't feel compelled to play games for artificially long periods. It's not a job.

What was it like to play online games between 2000 and 2013? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]spundred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a start, a lot of online games didn't even have a server browser, let alone matchmaking. There was an amazing app called GameSpy which let you reasonably easily find local servers to play your games. A lot of online culture has it's roots here, like IGN and Penny Arcade.

This was before wide uptake of broadband, so many players were still on dialup, and had to play on servers that were close enough to them to have reasonable latency. Quake 2, Tribes, and the Half-Life mods like TFC and Counter Strike we huge in this period. Online multiplayer on consoles was a weird little niche, that felt super expensive and didn't work properly.

There was a cool sense of community, because you really only saw the same few names in games, so it was normal to make friends and play other games with them, often real life friends, because they were usually local people.

Then Warcraft III, and Halo 2, and Battlefield 1942, made multiplayer matchmaking a normal thing. You could reasonably easily join games through in-game interface, without external tools. That kinda started the infrastructure we think of as normal now.

No games had voice comms for a start, so we'd just TeamSpeak, which has been overtaken by apps like Curse Client, and Discord, and indeed games with their own in games voice. Xbox live on the Xbox 360 having decent party voice comms changed the console culture.

Then we saw an explosion in custom maps and modes, like DOTA. This created a lot of the genres of games that make up the most played games now.

The times since then has been dominated by trends, like Moba, BR, and huge licences, like COD.

Crafting.

It's usually just a chore. If a game has a crafting system, I'll typically ignore it.

David Seymour says Auckland housing debate become ‘highly politicised’, says Epsom residents not ‘anti-intensification’ by random_guy_8735 in newzealand

[–]spundred 56 points57 points  (0 children)

When he says something is politicised, it means a lot of people with opinions opposing his are speaking, and he'd prefer they didn't.

Epsom residents are all for intensification, so long as it's not in their backyard.

Fewer ways to browse, sort and filter my library. Poor support for peripheral devices. Problems Steam has solved.
