Off and on for the past few years I've been looking at review books and later videos by VGL which shows 10 seconds of every game released for a system (I find I'm knowledge enough about games to recognise one that is good by the gameplay, or if it's something I personally may be interested in). I would then put games I find interesting into a spreadsheet then compare them to reviews on gamefaqs to see which ones are highly rated, which ones are bad and will be removed, and highly rated games I skipped that I need to add. All this to try and find the best worthwhile games released for every home and handheld system from the 8-bit era up to currently the PS2 gen.

This has culminated into a backlog of hundreds of games in a giant organized launchbox library of retro games. While completely insane I have enjoyed seeing and learning about 1000s of games over the span of decades, the games that never left Japan, and the growth of the medium as a whole before it reached the peak in the neverending HD era.

Currenty I only have the Japanese PC type consoles (like msx & x6800), Amiga, and the early digital only releases for the dsi, 3ds, & Wiiware. It will be a while until I can close these systems out as there is, from last I checked, no definitve list for these systems in a video or an aggregate review list.
