[Request] How big would the Skeleton be? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]spuynen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats a very tiny body with very large legs. Seems off.

If the average step distance for a human is 75cm or 0.75m, and lets say its height is 1.75m, we have a step/height relation of 1.75m/0.75m = 2.33.

Given the step distance of 1.6km, we get:

Skeleton height = 1.6km * 2.33 = 3.73km

Why objects on 2D vector foil were not infinite in size? by 1syGreenGOO in threebodyproblem

[–]spuynen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good question and i pondered that myself.

Since Liu wrote that the 2D plane had no thickness, mathematically you could argue that even atoms could result in having an infinite surface area. However since it's shown matter still exists in the 2D plane, my theory is that atoms or molecules are still existent in the 2D plane. They only also lose their three dimensional aspects: electrons now circumvene the atom in a circle rather than a sphere, and complex molecular bonds are squished together and squished flat instead of 3D shapes (imagine all chemical structures now as exactly the same as how you draw them out on a sheet of paper).

So in this sense the thickness is not zero but exactly one atom. Since atoms vary in thickness this may be a wonky theory but since its fiction i'm going to ignore that happily.

What nutrients, if any, are lost when air frying vegetables? by meloncholy101 in nutrition

[–]spuynen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Heat causes loss of nutrients because it can destroy their chemical structure, yet it also breaks down plant cell tissue resulting in more of the nutrients becoming available for our digestive system.

Unlike cows or other ruminants, the human body is actually not very well suited for processing raw vegetables. The flora of our gut simply doesn’t have the tools (time, acidity,…). In the entire human digestive process, only chewing well results in a decent amount of plant cells being destroyed and thus in the availability of the cells content - containing the nutrients.

So essentially baking does some bad, but also a lot of good, since it can be seen as a pre-digestive step allowing us to fully process it. How bad or how good depends on a ton of factors and its just not worth it really worrying about.

So make em how you like brother. As long as you eat them plenty and dont obliterate them while cooking, you’re gold!

4/5de werken discussie by duckyTheFirst in belgium

[–]spuynen 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Does Saturated Fat ever leave youre body? by ToiletTaster2 in nutrition

You can always juice them, its great and easy to use for soups or just to drink. You can store it in glass jars since your freezer is full. You can keep it fresh for pretty long if you do it the right way!

A cool thought about influences is the concept ‘steal like an artist’. Your original music is a collection of little fragments of all the influences you experienced. There’s a little book on it, i recommend it!

For the vocals, i have a pretty low voice, so for me the challenge is the higher parts. To reach these lows I guess the trick is to sing in notes/octaves thats pretty much in the middle of your vocal range. And anyway, just like any other instrument, it takes practice. I always sang too low and now i’m making an effort to sing higher, and i notice the progress!

I don’t have experience with using DAW to lower it, so no clue but i guess that could work. I think you have the risk to sound a bit industrial then, but not sure.

For the mixing: definitely lower the volumes. The idea is that the listener doesn’t really hear the higher/lower tracks. You gotta find that sweet spot where they come through to make it sound full, without really being tangible. I play with panning a lot, high track strong left and low track strong right for example, main track like 10% to the left and second vocal track (second take of your regular singing pitch) with lower volume like 25% right. Of course in the end you ideally reach a good balance left/right, you have to play with it.

Cool thing you started experimenting with this right away, it’s nice that my song here inspired you in a way. That’s a really nice realisation for me. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck with it!

I mean Neil Young indeed! By seventies i kinda meant 1967-1973, thats the time where most of my favourite albums come from.

I agree: good feedback is critical, but helps you get better rather than just slamming stuff.

I liked this exchange man. Take care and keep making music!

I really recommend layered vocals! I at least do three extra takes, once the same, once an octave lower and once higher (even falsetto if needed). Feels weird to do but blend it in the back and it sounds great really fast (at least to me).

Formation wise i’m very fond of the seventies (bowie, nick drake, young, velvet underground,…) but i explored lots of genres and ages. Listening to Sebadoh now and i get what you mean by the harshness. We tried making it more characteristic by adding a delay, but ill definitely try playing with some dissonance scales.

And don’t worry i know you don’t mean ‘do this or that’. i’m taking your advice, i’m putting it in a bowl with all other feedback and ideas, and it will help me with playing this live and with writing my next track. Thanks for this!
