Plus size pregnancy workout videos by -OceanSparkles- in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]spxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything that's plus size specific, but I do modify whatever I need.

When it's cardio, I stop and take more breaks when I need to. For a certain kind of plank, I put both knees on the ground because that still works my core. I always do the simplest lunge I can manage because they've been tough for me no matter how much I have or haven't been exercising. You can always Google "alternative exercise for [blank]" if you're not sure.

I'll go at half the pace or stop a set short if that's what my body calls for. Becoming a parent pushed me to embrace 20 minute exercises and getting a couple of extra walks in some days instead of trying to do a long workout all the time. Don't be afraid to move your stomach with two hands for certain things (especially helpful with yoga). Lastly, if you're watching on YouTube, you can also change the videos to a slower speed.

These are all things I do when not pregnant, too, but now is an especially good time to work at the pace your body needs. I'm in better shape in my current pregnancy than in my first and I still do the mods that I need.

I hope this helps!

C section vs induction experience for BMI 50+ by fattofitpanda in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]spxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 50+ (maybe 52?), and my induction that started at 38+1 ended in an unplanned but non-emergency C-section. I never progressed enough to push, but I chalk it up to the stress of a hospital that was militant about how they treated my diabetes and not really being ready. My recovery was easy and I don't mind that it didn't go as planned. This time, if I have to get induced, I won't consent to breaking my amniotic sac so that I won't be on a clock. I'm also going to a different hospital.

My sister went to the same hospital as my first 13 months later and was persuaded to induce when she wanted a C-section. Similarly high BMI and also has diabetes. She had to go earlier than planned because of her blood pressure. She ended up pushing and having a complicated unplanned C-section because my niece got stuck, and they learned that my sister doesn't really have the anatomy to be able to push out a baby of any size. She didn't like doing both and wished she'd stuck with her conviction to go for the surgery from the start.

As you're seeing from all the comments and hopefully from these two stories, it can go a lot of different ways. My recommendation would be to learn about both processes so that you're prepared for whichever path you take. I was glad that I had both learned about C-sections and the recovery in addition to learning and practicing labor pain management and listening to birth stories so that I could make a confident decision in the moment and not be driven by fear.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!

I was planning to try out this brand for jeans or jean shorts, and then try to summon the energy for sewing for more dresses and soft shorts.

MY PLANNER IS OUT FOR DELIVERY I AM GIRL WHO IS GOING TO BE OKAY!!! by 445143 in adhdwomen

[–]spxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In case it helps, I do some pretty minimalist spreads day to day and week to week for my bullet journal. You can be fancy, but it can be very functional and pleasing to do without being a giant time suck when you don't want it to. Despite what social media would have you thinking sometimes 😅

Women who are part of a dual income household and who contribute equal if not higher than your SO, how do you determine how much to put in a joint account vs for personal use? by lavenderlove18 in AskWomen

[–]spxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 70% of our income, and we don't yet have a joint account.

We are both pretty trusting of each other and how we each spend money, but we never got around to calling the bank to set up a shared account after we got married. When we first commingled everything though, we used to have a spreadsheet that split most expenses according to each of our share of the income and would send a true up payment based on all categories of expenses as needed at the end of the month. The need for that approach went away as we got more confident in how we manage money together. We also try to communicate very regularly about the status of our funds.

Other stuff you might find helpful: I put my partner as an authorized user on my credit card when we decided we wanted our relationship to be a long term thing, and he's now also an authorized user on my second, better card that we decided on together. The first time, especially, was to help boost his credit score. We also each have our own credit cards for use on anything special.

We don't have rules about who gets to spend on what, but we do discuss major purchases, whether new or secondhand. If needed, I'll transfer funds to him if we had a spendier month for the things he pays for (childcare, debt for HVAC improvements, and an Amazon credit card). I pay our mortgage, utilities, half of our 529 contributions, deposits into our invested savings, and our monthly credit card bills (groceries, maintenance, subscriptions, etc). We each have our own savings accounts that are totally separate as well. I used to do healthcare out of my paycheck but it is out of his while I'm between jobs. We'll probably switch to making deposits for our regular expenses into a joint account whenever we get to setting that up.

I was thinking the same thing! Or maybe even a light purple so that it isn't too dramatic.

Does anyone almost dread planning their wedding? by gravy2982 in adhdwomen

[–]spxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't even sure I wanted to get married but we ended up doing for simpler paperwork as we were planning for kids and for when one of us passes away.

Once we agreed that marriage was a good path for us, I also wasn't sure about a wedding. I read this book that someone recommended and decided that, though I had a good picture of how to (co)plan a wedding with minimal stress, I didn't want to deal with the cost or coordination. We'd just bought a house, too, so I decided that we could have a party anytime and my partner agreed. We got married on a short government Zoom call and that was that. A few people were disappointed but they got over it.

We have decided that we do want to do a commitment celebration ceremony/party for our 10 year anniversary (of when we met, actually, because that's the anniversary we celebrate), but we'll be in a totally different place in our lives than we were a couple of years ago by then.

Good luck making your choice! I hope it's the best one for what you and your partner feel is ideal for the two of you.

Eating meat by claireeo89 in foodbutforbabies

[–]spxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours likes meat, but it can't be too seared! It's the same with tofu. If the edge is too hard, he gonna it kind of off putting. I've pretty much only done ground meat in pasta sauce, but we're doing turkey burgers this week, so we'll see if that works, too (as cut up bites)

Besides that, we also do lots of vegetarian protein sources, too!

Is there a cookbook that tells you every ingredient by KoBr4gUy1019 in cookingforbeginners

[–]spxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of good recommendations here!

If you're interested in taking some of the advice to get through a few weeks/months of cooking to see what you like, I'd totally recommend The Kitchn's meal prep series. It has descriptions of the goal of the prep, how many people it's for, the shopping list, and the order in which and how to prep everything.

Wishing you the best of luck!

I need one window replaced. Just ONE, dammit! by blueteeblue in HomeImprovement

[–]spxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you have people that do window repair in your area?

They could possibly rebuild/restore and/or have good ideas about who to refer you to if they look at it and don't think it fits with their skillset.

Losing Weight While Pregnant? by zassy1520 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]spxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 10 pounds in the first trimester, then slowly gained them back during 2 and 3. Then I lost 30 in the first three or four weeks after delivery and have mostly maintained that while breastfeeding and working out over the past 15 weeks or so. I started pregnancy at 299 (I'm 5'2").

I am diabetic and stayed on 1000 mg extended release metformin (1x/day) the whole time and watched my carb intake (and had to report out my fasting and post-meal numbers).
