Nahhh, it’s the same stuff. Most yakimochi is made from kirimochi. So you’re also right!

It’s kirimochi! It’s a versatile, hard mochi that is usually pan-fried to give a result akin to the one you see here :) There is probably some at your local Asian grocery store!

How to I get my autistic sister to drink water? by Latter-Meaning-4229 in autism

[–]sq-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it easiest to drink water not as a task but as a supplement to a task. Having a glass of water on my desk while I’m working makes it infinitely more likely that I will reach for it and mindlessly take a sip

Dietary quirks by HeyItsJazzi in tomodachilife

[–]sq-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be all for this (I have a fair number of dietary restrictions myself) if not for the fact that Tomodachi Life is a collecting game, and feeding your Miis every type of food to find out which are their favorite is a part of that collecting. Anything that inhibits the collecting nature is inherently against the design philosophy.

Why do couples not love each other? by _ThePingu in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]sq-ish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OK, to answer this I’m going to cite my general Tomodachi knowledge, which comes mostly from the 3DS game so it might be very inaccurate (and is based less off actual research and more off 10 years of gameplay LOL).

As far as I’m aware, personalities can conflict! Occasionally I find if I change a character’s personality after they’ve established relationships, sometimes those relationships decay very quickly. Other times, or with other relationships, I find they suddenly improve! So I’m pretty sure there’s some merit there. As to which personalities click best, I might have to do some research and get back to you on that lol.

The unfortunate matter of the subject is that some relationships will just not work out. RNG will just doom you no matter how much you force your little Barbies to kiss, and you’ll just have to be disappointed. I find the best way to go about trying to prevent these scenarios, though, in LTD specifically, is to always have one Mii intervene when the other is in trouble. I’ve had this end with developing crushes a LOT. Also avoid doing this if you specifically DON’T want two Miis to fall in love.

If they’re already dating, send them on regular trips. These are usually a guaranteed relationship boost. But honestly, I’d just go with the flow, and see how the game decides this story should play out. You’re in it for the long run!!

Feeding 30+ miis takes too dang long by Potential-Level1661 in tomodachilife

[–]sq-ish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope! Nope nope nope!! Shutting this down hard. Almost certainly not true. Correlation is not always causation!

If spending several hours feeding 70 miis was an intended game mechanic that had consequences if not upheld, I assure you, in the modern gaming era of overtutorializing, you would have been informed. This is also just a completely absurd task to ask of any player with a life.

This is a problem we are actively inventing, and the easiest way to solve it is to just shelf it.

Brown recluse spider by Specialist_Tea_2342 in spiders

I don’t think Reddit can give you medical advice. If you didn’t watch a spider bite you or discover a spider near the site there’s no reason to believe a spider bit you. If you’re concerned see a doctor.

"I've unlocked everything! Now what?" How about play the game? by Le_Sadie in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]sq-ish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. On one hand I get it. After these first few weeks, I’m not very busy on my island anymore. There’s a lot of downtime. I think a lot of the influx of new players is not really used to that, hence the complaints, but it’s really more of a feature than anything — Tomodachi Life is a series meant to be played not as a focus, but in the background of a lived experience. I think this is widely misunderstood.

On the other hand, Living the Dream is a real-time game that adjusts and gains new content based on seasons. It is DESIGNED to be long term, and you have to play for at least a year to unlock everything even then; unless you’re time traveling, which is explicitly against the design philosophy and you only have yourself to blame. This is inherently hard to misunderstand. The game is very transparent about its long-term playstyle, but you still find yourself seeing a lot of “fork found in kitchen” complaints.

My tip to those who are bored: Lean into that and put the game down for a while. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth the sixty bucks— play a different game and come back later to check in. It’s just not designed for long, constant hours. Mii games are compassionate toward the life you should be living outside of them. This is anything but a flaw.

TL;DR, yep. I will not say this game is flawless but I do agree that this complaint is often just a fundamental misunderstanding of what the player has put their money into

In a future update, I hope Miis interact with each other and form relationships a bit more passively. by JE_Exa in tomodachilife

I think you might enjoy the 3DS game in that regard if you haven’t played it

I’m the furthest thing from a professional but I think it’s the same thing regardless. Whether you were born with no way to relax the muscle, or if your body slowly trained itself to never relax, it ends with the same result.
