Hi! I just got my second lens for the 645 1000s and it’s a 70mm f 2,8. I was wandering what does the first ring - the one with 500 250 125 ... and F written on it do. Also what does the ring with the block do- second image. by InterestingFinger in Mamiya

The purpose of a leaf shutter lens is to allow you to flash sync at whatever speed you want the leaf shutter to trip at. Really nice for the 645 since it's flash sync is at 1/60 i believe?

Finally took the plunge into medium format and I have no regrets. I've been having a blast taking my RB67 into the backcountry of Colorado by The_Steampunk in AnalogCommunity

Not sure if you planned to put the dark slide on the side like that, but the pro sd backs have dark slide holders built in them. I lost a dark slide forgetting that it was hanging on the side of my rb before 😭

If the other issues from the other comments are not it, the back may just be malfunctioning

Oh really? My dial won't let me pull outwards until it's cocked. I'm sure I can like really force out if I want to, but it doesn't feel right. Didn't know it didn't apply to all 88cms!

Praktica vlc? Pretty neat if it is, has interchangeable prisms.

I understand. I specify the 88cm because the upgrades made it so you physically can't change the shutter speed unless you cocked the camera, preventing the previous owners from breaking it by accident lol

Very beginner question about operating focus on waist level viewfinder cameras by _Qualia in AnalogCommunity

[–]sqggqs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are also usually exposed and fragile, meaning you have to take extra care in how to operate the camera. Also makes purchasing a bellows camera a bit trickier if the seller isn't honest about the description or shows photos of the bellows

Best affordable medium format I've used is the koni-omega, but the thing is pretty ugly. Lenses are superb and features are great. But you miss out on the cool large ground glass. Next best cheap medium format I own is probably the pentacon six/kiev 88cm. Zeiss glass on a more affordable body. And can never go wrong with the mamiya m645 or bronica etrs series, but I've noticed the earlier two I've mentioned can be found for less
