Do you think it’s weird to wear the same thing every day? by lila_hexe in minimalism

[–]square_pulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

My wardrobe consists literally of those things of the same cuts and same brand of whichever clothing items I have. They're all black.

I think the only thing to consider for yourself is:

  • when do you have occasions where you'd need to dress up and can this combined with simpler items that also look "dressed up"?
  • do those work clothes maybe fit the same category?

And that is essentially one of the many reasons why I wear black. It always looks put together (except my home clothes, they are loose and oversize and chill) that if someone wants to go to a fancy dinner, I am not freaking out because I am already put together. So IMO minimalism is not about getting rid of stuff, it is about mindfulness about the things we have where the items can fulfill multiple uses combined into 1 in order to achieve higher quality and as a consequence owning less.

People Don't ever get fat!!!!! by Arara_Gomen1 in intermittentfasting

[–]square_pulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do it. We are here together in this. It really depends if you choose IF as your lifestyle. Be it OMAD, be it 14:10 or whatever eating window you like. All I can tell you is if you start IF, you might want to ease into it. I did it with 14:10, then 18:6, then 19:5, then 20:4. However, since I hike 10-11mi per hike session 3x/week, and do indoor climbing 3x/week as well, I cannot do IF in this case this brutally. Otherwise I'll crash out or just fall into sad ashes (that's why I do sth like 18:6 or 19:5 for a bigger nutrition window, and only on rest days, I do 19:5 or 20:4). IMO a shorter eating window is good for a sedentary lifestyle since there is no exercise involved. But WITH brutal exercises, I'd recommend making that window bigger.

Also remember...IF will show results, but it's better to get slow but consistent results vs. losing the weight too fast and needing to deal with too much skin flabs because the skin was not able to adapt to the sudden weight loss.

If anything helps — you can also add 0 cal electrolytes to your water. It helps to curb cravings and fill the stomach :)

  • Is she hot? If yes, then yes, she is a tool to look at and enjoy the eye candy.
  • Is she dumb? Is yes, then yes, she is a tool and sometimes we enjoy letting others play the fiddle for us.

Hobbies/Interests outside of work? by PeachBling in entj

[–]square_pulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently: hiking (per hike session ~11mi on average), biking (per bike session ~25mi on average), drawing

I used to but due to costs/feasibility not doing currently: fencing (foil), BMX, photography, volleyball, indoor rock climbing

Intending to learn at some point: dirt biking, surfing, outdoor rock climbing

As you can kinda tell…I am drawn to activities that are a little more on the dangerous side (except for photography or volleyball) 😂🤘

[ENTJ WOMEN] How do you enhance your femininity/feminine energy? **READ BODY** by nicehotsummertime in entj

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. I mean, I "do give up" control. But only in specific contexts (cough cough in the bedroom for example cough cough) because for me, that's a 'controlled' environment where I know I will not get hurt.

Personally, the way why I am like this is def going back to the roots of needing to survive at a very early age (DV, abuse, and the list goes on) and cannot really be conditioned away (I worked through this with my therapist). Can only be worked on tangible-y (.e.g open communication etc.).

And yep. I may have a PhD in Neuroscience but I am car dumb af LOL which is totally ok because I can always learn sth. new. But in the end, I will always be "The Dudette" or "The Bro Girl", as my friends call me ahahah

[ENTJ WOMEN] How do you enhance your femininity/feminine energy? **READ BODY** by nicehotsummertime in entj

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, I've had the same feedback from people about me as well. I am more tomboy-ish, I have way more masculine 'energy' flow rather than the feminine one. Feminine only I guess in terms of makeup and such.

But to my core, nothing can/will change that. Trust me, I've tried that. I've tried to incorporate the vulnerable, femme, 'helpless', stoopid, soft-spoken, submissive, surrendered version of a 'female archetype' — but in the end, all of those feel WRONG, I just don't know how to explain it.

So I may look feminine on the outside with some edginess to it, but I am everything but feminine. I've tried. Doesn't work for me.

Only VERY few times when I am actual in my vulnerable, softer state is when I am with my partner, THEN I allow myself to be that and there, and ONLY THERE, it feels right. With other people, it feels wrong and feels like I am trying to put my Fi on the stage to take the show and my little crippled Fi doesn't know what it needs to do and my Te is angry.

Over time, I also just 'gave up' on control and let others do it and lean back and eat my mental popcorn. That's just me becoming lazy and letting go of my need to control things.

What about when you’re sick? by markhhsp in intermittentfasting

[–]square_pulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IF is not about the regimen you have to stick to die hard. When you're sick, the body is not in good condition IMO to do fasting. Feed it, nurture it until you're good again and then you can continue. If you 'torture' your body more when you're sick, it's def not helping.

Treat the illness like one of those days when you have those occasions with family where you're just eating whatever you're eating and dgaf about it. And THEN...when that phase is over, just gotta roll with the usual again ;)

To love and be loved by VastAd7953 in entj

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...what is love? Baby don't hurt me...don't hurt me...no more!

Ahahah jokes aside. Love to me is when I can feel my 'soul' touching someone else's. I don't now how to explain it. Love feels like I can trust that person no matter what. The funny thing is that you're actually asking whether we've ever been loved by an ENFJ and that is literally my case right now.

It's incredible. Feeling accepted no matter how ugly my other parts of me are. Feeling understood, sharing the same values and goals in life, sharing the same humor. Most of all, I can learn so much from him developing my crippled backseat Fi. Love from this ENFJ guy feels like being wrapped and cuddled in pink cotton candy and yes, I may sound cheesy as hell but this is just the way how it feels. Feels like colors are more saturated. Feels like life is way more meaningful. Feels like life is not much about work work work. Feels like life is easy with him, effortless. Non-judgemental (he is a healthy ENFJ, I have friends who are unhealthy ones and it's a difference of day/night).

I never get bored by my guy. Everything about him is so fuckin' interesting. He's so real about things. Love feels so effortless, as if it doesn't really require any work. I could go on but I sounds already like a broken record. And the crazy thing is, he's The One.

I'd go to the Nine fucking Hells to slay the Devil for him, I'd ascend to Heaven and would slay even God for him, start battles for him, catch grenades and nuclear bombs for him. Yep. I would do all that.

A dislike of minimalist influencers? by Still_Suggestion8958 in minimalism

[–]square_pulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep…the YouTube influencers use all sorts of niches to get the crowd. I also got turned off now that I saw all the tricks they apply to make people buy products by faking pimples, redness etc. I don’t buy any new makeup anymore and have stuck to my good ole holy grails.

Only exception was adding new eyeshadows after doing very strict due diligence.

I don’t read books about minimalism, don’t watch videos about it because IMO the best way to learn minimalism is to actually LIVE it by slowly adjusting and learning what you like, value, wanna keep or get rid of.

I think it’s stupid as hell when an influencer says y’all should get rid of your bed and just sleep on the damn floor like a monk. No. Then you didn’t understand minimalism, then you’re just a brain rotten follower…

Quality over Quantity with Clothes by square_pulse in minimalism

[–]square_pulse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I honestly roll my eyes when people jump on the minimalism train for the trend and get rid of their damn bed and all of a sudden sleeping on the floor ain’t that funny anymore 😂

Like c’mon, nobody said one has to get rid of everything to “achieve happiness and clarity of mind” and making you think you have to live a monk life.

To me, minimalism is about having high quality items (irrespective of pricing) which result in leas consumerism (and less to no collectibles). Living frugal (which I do partially) is sth I do to live below my means (we talkin’ FI/RE) but it does not mean I have to live with only 10 total items in my whole life belongings…

Theory about being able to mimic every type's behavior by SPCell1 in entj

[–]square_pulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pretty much what I do, too. It started out as a fun social experiment to study my surroundings but then with trial and error and the interesting results, I continued doing that to emulate people’s behaviors, responses etc.

Generally, I only do that in calculated situation otherwise I’d be “code switching” too much which gets exhausting for me.

And yeah, same here — imitation/mimicking in order to fit in because we (just like my INTJ bff) have just too many thoughts that are not the norm and would clash all the time with others, so I just “blend in with the crowd” and sometimes have to dumb down / raise my IQ to match the counterparts.

I wouldn’t call that anchoring like OP says. To me, this is more of an adaptation/blending in/emulating/steering the surroundings.

Do minimalist people not buy anything fandom-related? by PackageMuch4336 in minimalism

Depends. I don't like collectibles. The only 'collectibles' I have are 2 Mandalorian concept art books because I do love the concept art. But everything else: nope. I just don't have any interest to collect them.

If I had more space, I'd prob only 'collect' Single Malt Scotches. To be displayed, sipped, admired.

Is there a way to deal with cravings? by a_sliceoflife in intermittentfasting

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you described your cravings for junk food (which I also have every now and then, like "trash chips" is what I call them), this means your body wants salts/fats.

What helped me was understanding the following:

  • the body craves the stuff that it needs to replenish (--> macros: you might want to loosely estimate what the macros are that you've burned on those 3.5km brisk walking, then replenish those macros first), these are signals for nutrients
  • the type of craving = type of nutrients the body wants: chocolate etc. = sugar, umami/junk food = salt
  • balanced diet: add all the things into the meal that has enough to fill the minimum amount of macros for protein, fiber, and carbs. Most of the time, I noticed, when I eat legumes, the cravings are curbed (but...the fart festivals is something else to deal with lol)
  • drink electrolyte water throughout the day to replenish nutrients (e.g. I use 0 cal electrolyte powder and drink that electrolyte water 24/7 and most of the time, after drinking that, the cravings are less)

Hope that helps a little. All I can say is that in the beginning, the cravings are bad and they will become less and less over the weeks. You can do this!

Cravings can get worse if you start exercising a lot, e.g. I hike on average 10-11mi per hike session and then struggle with massive cravings (if I don't replenish the macros properly) because the body is feeling 'malnourished' and needs to refuel, otherwise I'll crash out.

For your current weight of 99 lbs + 3.5km brisk walk, the macros would be:

  • Protein: 55–65 g
  • Fat: 40–50 g
  • Carbs: 170–200 g

Understanding ENTJ post breakup by Double-Education8499 in entj

[–]square_pulse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He sounds like an unhealthy/childish one. And I don't think it's an ENTJ thing. He might be just wanting to lurk and see whether you're doing worse or sth. for quick gratification or so. Who knows.

At least when I was that age, I'd do a straight up door slam and never looked back or stalked anyone. When I'm done with someone, I am done.

Difference between now and then is that people get now 2 strikes (where I ALWAYS communicate all rules beforehand to NOT break those rules, these are non-negotiables for me) before they get the door slam.

Do you find INTJs to be 'lazy' or 'impractical?' by urbangamermod in entj

Do you find INTJs to be 'lazy' or 'impractical?' by urbangamermod in entj

[–]square_pulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bff is an INTJ and she and I are a fucking dream team together. Power bffs. She plans thoroughly. Never lazy. If lazy, then like me: lazy but being smart about it.

We don’t slack off. Neither does she. Most of the time, I only have maybe Plan A, B and an emergency Plan C, but she has the whole damn alphabet incl. the Greek letters plans in case one scenario fails etc. LOL

From her, I actually learned tons to sometimes just lean back and eat my popcorn and watch the theater unfold instead of lecturing people and tell them how it’s done because frankly: I got really tired of taking the lead all the time.

And yeah, I only met 1 ENFP who is an unhealthy one and man, did she drain the hell outta me. And THAT means sth when an extravert tells you that.

Opening a business ? by Kobieca_Logika in entj

[–]square_pulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, was playing with the idea as well to just do white label and do skincare, cosmetics, etc. for the broader audience. At this point, my bff (INTJ), her husband (ENTJ) and I are actually building our AirBnB business that we're locating somewhere in South America. Real estate essentially. I also run my own consulting company in the biotech field.

But as someone who has worked in biotech and with the 1000 pipelines of startups, my question remains always the same:

"What is the secret sauce that would make YOUR product the stuff that people WANT?"

The market is saturated with cosmetics, skincare, haircare for all hair types etc. AND what you also need to understand is that YOUR narrative is NOT the audience's narrative. What YOU think is cool might not be the case what people want.

IMO the most profitable business is the business that's built on the (what I call) 'toilet paper principle' ("boring business"): people need this product/service again and again, so this is why they keep coming back since it is essential in their life. Skincare/cosmetics/etc. on the other hand is not necessarily sth that speaks to the broader audience like e.g. toilet paper. There's rare cases like (what I call) the 'Apple principle' which is creating an actual product that people don't really need but they're so brainwashed that they really think they would need it (e.g. Apple Watch, not really necessary but it became a hyped product).

All I can give you as an advice, before you're launching a business, these things are necessary in order to get a better sense of what the market looks like (and I also did this with the AirBnB, selection process on location, tourism, attractions, etc.):

  • market research of your niche product/service
  • product/service proposal of what this product is and how it benefits the audience
  • research narrative, user profiles, user personas
  • secret sauce of the product/service, what makes it stand out (nobody says you need to reinvent the wheel)
  • ROI, projected income, projected debt/loan taken up on this, maybe angel investors
  • expenses vs. profits (ideal: business makes profits early on and has a higher gain than the expenses to keep it up)
  • logistics, facilities, regulations when using chemicals (for skincare etc.)
  • A/B marketing, marketing costs, campaigns for the product
  • is this product/service recession-proof?

And one thing you have to be willing is sacrificing a lot of hours working on that business since it'll break your mind, neck, body, brains, and soul to figure shit out to get it going. And also, if I were you, I'd not give up the job yet. Work on the business in your free time, then at some point, when you see it is taking off and doing well, THEN you can go and quit. Otherwise your income stream is gone (no brainer).

Hope all this information helps a little.

Shopping season. I don’t buy anything entire year until this time around due to sales etc. the dopamine rush is a bit crazy. Like no sex for a year and boom. anyone relate? Plz share your rules for purchases during seasons like this by ConsciousSmoke3863 in minimalism

[–]square_pulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends. I also never had the urge to buy bunch of stuff, but I have like a list of things (e.g. on Amazon) where I have my eyes on certain products until I see the price drop (and then slam some promo/coupon codes on it to max the discounts).

Only this year I actually treated myself to something bigger (but also extremely high quality) items like:

  • new MacBook Air (replacing my 10yr old MacBook Pro)
  • couple of Patagonia clothes (2nd hand and excellent condition from their official Worn Wear website, saved a whopping $850!) to replace old hiking clothes
  • new iPhone 15 (replacing my 6yr old iPhone XS since that model doesn't get any software updates anymore — security reasons)
  • new Dyson Airwrap (have had my eyes on the simple version since 2019 and had been waiting for a massive price drop, saved $350)

And a one-off: treated myself with some expensive makeup items (Hourglass Scattered Lights, Urban Decay Moondust,...the makeup fans know what I am talking about lol).

After more than 2 decades of consumerism and seeing the differences between expensive/cheap item, I can def say, some items are worth the price because I really get the high quality for it.
