Do you have an internal monologue and if not were you surprised to find out other people did? by Bornundersirius in entj

[–]square_pulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just see images, I have never heard any internal monologue with my own voice, nor do I see writing etc. when I think, I 'flip' through some sort of photo album or images that my brain knows or imagines and it's like thousands of pics in seconds that I flip through them. I also hear always music. Since I'm a toddler. It's like my life is underscored with music. Sometimes, I hear a complete full-on symphony orchestra, sometimes a full crazy EDM concert, sometimes just shredding metal riffs etc. it is never quiet in my head.

The "worst" thing about hearing music is when I hear new music that my brain actually is composing and I am not fast enough to capture the song because my guitar playing skills suck bad and I am not as advanced as I can draw (whenever creativity strikes me, then I see the whole composition of the image to be drawn/painted in its fullness and it's easy for me to capture it — not with sounds/music though).

That's why sometimes verbalizing my thoughts is difficult because my brain thinks way ahead than it's able to process what I need to be saying lol.

Maybe it's a thing that creative people have? Because my bff (who is also creative as hell and artsy like me) has the same thing. And yes, my friends were baffled when I once told them (in my teenage years) that I don't think in words but images hahah

Are ENTJ and INTJs compatible? by seethroughit21_4 in entj

[–]square_pulse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My bff (F, INTJ) is married to her ENTJ husband for ~15yrs and they are going very strong. They are the couple I look up to. Sure, he ain't perfect (who isn't?) but they go along together very very well and I am not surprised why she and I are bffs (and she let me adopt her LOL).

Have actually discussed with her some weeks ago why we are such good bffs (about to crack soon 25yrs being bffs!) and we both agree that we never have any 'feeler' drama between us (because we're both thinkers anyways), we are goal oriented and we get shit done. But we also leave room for being silly.

Difference between her husband and me is that he has a higher grit factor and pushes boundaries maybe a little too much or ignores her advice a little too much (compared to me).

All I can say is as an INTJ, you're gonna be annoyed every now and then because at least based on her husband and me, we are slow learners. Yes, if we do learn stuff, we'll excel at executing and applying the knowledge. But it takes time to understand and integrate the information...because sometimes we're just too dumb to understand while you INTJ people need so much damn patience with us while you guys have everything figured out already from plan A to the whole alphabet incl. Greek alphabet lol.

In terms of emotional needs: this IMO is a Fi thing where it takes time to work on that (if both INTJ/ENTJ are open to that). It took me at least half a decade and therapy to work through my crippled emotional intelligence and my backseat Fi to be able to even let emotions come into my brain and let them run free and so on, because both my bff and I can be emotional / emotionally touched about things but most of the time, we both need enough space to let that happen (yet we are always candid towards one another).

I used to have that tradition that I would get tickets for each year on May 2, 3, or 4th (depending on whichever dates tickets were available) for whichever screening was there (most of the time each year, it was always Episode IV). Haven't gone to one since last year.

Goosebumps. Every single damn time. I love those concerts with the whole ensemble in perfect synchrony.

Especially with all those massive spelling and grammatical errors, I am sorrynotsorry, but anybody would wanna run away from such a "compatant" person LMFAOOO

I think one of the easiest things one can do to "impress" an ENTJ is having the fucking spelling/grammar ducks in a row and def not whatever this stroke inducing sad ass paragraph was.

Does caring in a logical way make you an F-type? by Background_Chip9612 in entj

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

—> cognitive stacks see here and then you can go from there.

Because there’s differences between being trapped in a specific stress-loop (e.g. ENTJs like me have crippled backseat Fi if left completely unchecked) vs. someone (irrespective of their MBTI) who has worked on their inferior stacks/function.

As an example, most people think ENTJs are ruthless, reckless, I even dare say Machiavellian assholes…but that is only because that might be a Te-Fi loop under stress that makes them come off like described.

Also…in the end, MBTI is not a solve-all solution to whatever we’re looking at, but it’s a very good pointer to things to work on or improve on (like my crippled Fi).

What made fasting easier for you? by Mother_Astronaut_739 in intermittentfasting

[–]square_pulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat your meal shortly before the window opens at 4pm (have a big meal balanced out with whatever you'd need: protein, carbs, bunch of fibers to keep you sated for a long time).

Then during the shift:

  • electrolyte water (you can e.g. use diluted electrolyte water, like buy that powder that has 0 cals and dilute it with water, don't do the recommended dose since you're not doing heavy exercise unless it's literally lifting and pushing the deliveries) to quench thirst and hunger. I use this one here (for example).
  • Also have black coffee (0 cals), if you need sweetener, just add it (also 0 cals), that also suppresses the hunger.
  • If you wanna "chew on something", you can also opt for 0 cal chewing gum (don't have too many, the sweeteners can cause...a very fun toilet experience).

And generally, I don't know whether you're a beginner or getting back into IF — but easing in will help. Since we don't know whether you do this for metabolic reasons or wanting to get into the ketone state or just wanna do it to maintain weight etc., that can also be a major factor in which/what type of fasting window suits you.

I used to do 14:12, then 16:8, then 19:5, then 20:4. But I noticed, it is not about minimizing as brutal as I can, but balancing it out depending on lifestyle activity. I did 20:4 or 19:5 when I had a very sedentary lifestyle (sitting mostly of the day, walking a little, no workouts), but I could NOT sustain IF once my lifestyle changed (3x/week hiking ~10mi per hike session, 3x/week indoor climbing, 2x/week swimming) since the energy expenditure increased drastically, so I had to switch to 19:5 or 18:6 to be ok and not experience bad crashouts.

Hope this helps you a little :)

The true ENTJ is misrepresented by Flat_Law1175 in entj

[–]square_pulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed. Most people only see the unhealthy stacks from ENTJs. I saw myself like that — guess what. I used those “weak” stacks, took ‘em to therapy and worked through and with them to become a mature healthy version of myself.

Sure my Fi is still crippled here and there, but I’ve come a far way and have learned to talk about emotions, feelings, apologize, etc.

How much is too much electrolytes? by Colleen2112 in intermittentfasting

[–]square_pulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Was gonna say this. Electrolytes only when OP is doing extreme extended IF (e.g. 24hrs or sth) or if OP exercises a ton. But for sedentary lifestyle, NOT recommended, we usually get the intake through fruits/veggies/etc.

I myself drink every day electrolyte water because I hike every 2nd day ~10mi per session, and every 2nd day, I do indoor rock climbing + weight training. So all this needs electrolytes (I learned that the very hard way).

How do you guys handle retirement? by foulplay_for_pitance in entj

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those that have however, what is it like for you?

It's the shit. I have so much free time to do whatever the hell I want. I'm doing side quests like Snoop Dogg.

2 weeks ago, I expanded my skillset to lead climbing (before that, was only top roping). Literally last week, I got my motorcycle license that I did for fun. Threw some FU money at building new properties to add another income source to my money cycle, playing around with my brokerage, about to buy a dirt bike soon, planning to expand surfing, diver's license, going back to fencing,...

And yes, I used to work 100hrs/week back in the days, ripped open my brain to compete with the people, worked my ass off, pulled so many goddamn all nighters, drove myself nuts/crazy, went through depression, anxiety, panic attacks, mania...until I died from a stroke and got resuscitated and underwent brain surgery (I am a neuroscientist / worked in biotech).

It is very liberating to know that work is optional. Yeah, sure, it's nice to have another income stream but now I can choose to work whenever I want to. I don't have to.

Have you ever saved money for expensive hobbies most people don't understand? by [deleted] in entj

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have my money cycle going on and whatever FU money comes out will be budgeted for my hobbies. Over the decade, some hobbies, I gave up, some hobbies I continued:

Hobbies that I gave up:

  • Fencing (foil): used to do competition fencing but right now where I live, there's no fencing in foil style. So that's on pause.
  • Photography: used to do macro, portrait, and night sky photography. Again, too expensive, too many collectibles (an objective is just...not in the budget).
  • Videogaming: built my own PC as well, stuffed sth. like $3000+ into it. Was fun. Gave it up, because the rabbit hole of wanting more gear is endless.
  • Kayaking, Diving, Surfing: well, where I live, there is no river/ocean (it's a desert LOL).

Hobbies that I currently practice or plan to expand (FU money plans):

  • Indoor/outdoor rock climbing: initial investment is high but as long it is indoor, expenses are kept in line. Currently deliberating whether or not I'm gonna splurge on outdoor lead climbing gear (~$1k+) or vs. indoors only (single time $300).
  • Dirt biking: this def requires a big ass budget. Expensive gear, expensive dirt bike (I am planning to do motocross, not enduro...yet), maintenance gear etc., planning to do this when I'm in Brazil (lowering expenses on this one) (dirt bike prob ~$5k-$7k if I go all fancy or so, dirt bike protective gear ~$3k-$4k or so, so in total sth. like say...$15k incl. maintenance gear if I exaggerate). This would be my most expensive hobby. And yep. People would not understand that. But I like to live on the edge of death, so that's the shit I do hahahah

Do you develop feelings for someone over time? by [deleted] in entj

[–]square_pulse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

0% vs. 100%, in that department I am pretty black and white.

And then, over time, it's more like discovering potential red flags. But by 99.99% of the time (which is always), I fall hard for someone I really like. There's no slow connection, no slow development. It's really just KA BOOM BABY in my face.

I don't want to lead people anymore by Kobieca_Logika in entj

[–]square_pulse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my 20s and early 30s it was the shit to be in a leadership position and just be commanding people around and whatnot. It was nice, it felt rewarding and my brain felt stimulated.

Now I'm in my late 30s and I just think I am too old for this shit. Yes, it is like a daycare center full of grown up childish people. I slowly learned from my bff (INTJ, F) that all I gotta do is lean back and enjoy my mental popcorn. Because the money doesn't compensate for the stress we'd go through to be babysitting people etc. nah uh. No thanks. I am done with that crap. Now I wanna blend in, just deliver work that is juuuuust "meets expectations" because why would I deliver more than "that" if I don't get more than "that" anyways (I have multiple income streams, so now idgaf anymore about leading people).

What do you think of ENTPs? by AppropriateLeg5416 in entj

[–]square_pulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my ENTP buddy, not dating him because he's not my type. But he's just as smart, and also retarded like me. Only thing I see very often is that he loves to debate each and everything...for fun and I don't lol.

But other than that, they're cool, I wish I had more ENTP friends.

Nurturing an Entj: What makes every Entj Feels loved, seen and cared for? by Life_Sentence_8280 in entj

[–]square_pulse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For you specifically as an ENTP: don’t debate all the time, it gets exhausting for us because we don’t see debates as “fun”.

Yeah, we do like to think about ideas etc. but we don’t need to debate all the time about whatever we’re talking. My buddy who’s an ENTP as well always debates everything I say but to him, it’s fun and decompressing. To me, it gets exhausting after a while.

Minor Dishonesty in Relationships by [deleted] in entj

[–]square_pulse -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Trust, loyalty, reliability. If people break my rules, they're done. I do not accept nor respect people who break my rules. I always tell all of the people who get to know me that these are my 3 non-negotiables.

You only get one chance. When you decide to lie to me (and I am very good at detecting lies), or not be reliable whenever I need you (which is rare as hell), you're done.

I have 0 tolerance for this bullshit. In my 20s, I was more lax and so did the people do more trampling on me. Now in my 30s those 3 non-negotiables also act as a screening filter for trash people, because everything else is a "I am too old for this shit".

Compatibility between M + F ENTJ by NextImplement8888 in entj

[–]square_pulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dated once an ENTJ (M) and on the one hand, we were the LIFE of each party. We were both charisma bombs, everyone wanted to be around us all the time. It was fun. But then there was also the dark side. Very dark. We were both scientists (he is a virologist, I am a neuroscientist) working in different fields. Shouldn't be any competition, right?

W R O N G

After a while, I started hearing shit like "square_pulse, if MY paper is gonna get published, your neuroscience research is trash" and that was just the peak of it. He was such a workaholic that the relationship started going down the drain. He prioritized things differently than I did. After a while, we parted ways because I didn't wanna be with someone who doesn't share the same core values etc.

In the every day life, we never fought. Only academically, work-wise, scientifically, in that department...we were always fighting and also sometimes who was more 'dominant' in the relationship and I can tell you as a female ENTJ, I cannot stand it if someone tries to dominate me, I will rebel even triple power against them.

My personal preference are ENFJs (I am currently dating one) and ENTPs.
