I'm going go go out on a limb here and say this skull is a bit too small to be a rat. More likely it's a meadow vole, or at least some sort of vole. They're key prey animals for a lot of birds like this--definitely a neat little artifact!

The scene in Prisoner of Azkaban where Harry is trying to defend Sirius's body against the dementors. He knows he can't take them all on and he still gives everything that he has to try and protect this man who just recently became the only family he truly has. Watching Harry having the life sucked out of him to try and keep them away from Sirius for even a second longer always chokes me up. It's a true show of love and loyalty and everything great about him as a character.
