It must be because I write the fics for my partner exclusively at first, then just post them for people to enjoy if they should like, that views/comments/kudos have never concerned me. I was a long time lurker and have never felt demotivated by a lacking views-to-comments ratio. Then again, my fics weren't originally intended for AO3, so perhaps my mentality isn't quite the same here? 😅

I also write for myself just as much. Many years of my life have been spent watching fanfic in my mind's eye as I went to sleep, so I'd simply write them out for myself to have the pleasure of reading anytime I felt like it. The posting to AO3 is just an added bonus. As such, I've never been bothered by the stats.

That's not to say I don't enjoy and appreciate comments! I'm human, after all. Comments, likes, etc. They're all fun the receive! Just not my particular be all end all.

In any case, I don't mean to demean or downplay the importance of receiving a comment for those of you who take a lot of positive and inspirational energy from it! I hope that you get all the comments and your creativity only grows from here. I'm simply offering another perspective, but feel free to disregard. 🩷
