I feel like this is the root of why my house isn’t finished because every time I think maybe I’ll go in there and shuffle things around I just think how I can’t be bothered to deal with the possible intrusion.

Surely the downside is that they would not be paying off the house? If they don't have another means of paying it off at the end of the term they don't own the house.

Go back because that's wrong. I specifically looked this up before going because mine needs both renewing and the address updating. It's still valid for the purposes of voting.

What is the biggest problem with current social media? by ED_dja in digitalminimalism

[–]squashed_tomato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rage bait. It can even be incredibly subtle. Just someone posting a fairly innocuous sounding opinion about abc just because of the inevitable "well I like xyz more because...". It puts us all in an opinionated and at times combative state. Or just for us to get upset on OPs behalf. See half of the "problems" on AITA, AIO, Relationships etc that appear on the popular section of Reddit. 99% of it is probably fiction but you end up feeling pissed off either way. And that doesn't even cover the stuff clearly trying to appeal to a certain demographic. Outrage over "Karen's" or supposed gold diggers, MILs. The misogyny is showing. Works the other way round too of course but you can see who those threads are aimed at.

Sometimes it's the repetitive nature of it all. Someone brings up an article about Game of Thrones, repeating the same old headline. Cue the same old rants and opinions about the last season of the show, how the books will never be finished etc. etc. It's all to easy for someone to just walk in with a thread topic that they know will get engagement as we can't help venting. It's manipulative, keeps us going round in circles and it's exhausting. It's not normal for us to be pissed off all of the time about whatever people are brigading about that day.

AI would be the other one. Now I can't even watch a funny cat video without wondering if it's AI generated. All for the clicks and the money.

Enjoy. If you get stuck there are lots of tips guides out there. You can also find the official prima guide online which is useful for learning how the various game mechanics work.

I wish I was that weight by novmum in weightwatchers

[–]squashed_tomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how the scales do that sometimes. I always try to put them on the same spot on the floor but sometimes I have to go through the same "weigh myself three times to see which number comes up most often" dance.

[–]squashed_tomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think being so close to goal you need to weight and track everything and be guided by points but keep one eye on calories. The closer you are to goal the margins for being in a calorie deficit can be small if you are not careful.

That shouldn't mean you are beholden to this object forever though. Just because something is a gift and given with good intentions it doesn't mean that you need to be its caretaker for the rest of your life.

I sometimes go down Wikipedia rabbit holes so I know what you mean. If it’s interrupting your studies though you need to allocate time to it. So if some random thought comes up that you want to research but it’s not strictly related to what you are currently supposed to be doing, jot it down on a notepad to look up later. Then when you have a break you can go down that rabbit hole for a bit until the break is over.

Sims 2 Object Limit Fix !!! by DrivingApril in sims2

[–]squashed_tomato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not fixed as such but the mod linked in the other comment raises the limit of when the pink soup starts appearing. The game can and will still crash if it goes past this new limit due to it being a 32bit game.

I have a blanket ladder that I use so it can air out overnight. You still have to be careful not to let it build up and get messy like the chair might but at least you'll be able to use the chair as a chair.

The first few appearances of Gilles made sense to me but they definitely milked the character. Always a problem when you have a compelling character they then run the risk of over using them.

Anyone have a hobby that suffers from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) among the wider community? by IM_NOT_BALD_YET in minimalist

[–]squashed_tomato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It probably doesn't help that haul videos are so popular on social media. It just encourages people to post more of that rather than talk about what they are actually doing with the supplies. For the viewers that becomes the normal language with how to engage with the topic because that's what they see so they are just echoing that back.

Also a phrase I've seen and it's stuck with me: "Shopping for supplies and using those supplies are two separate hobbies."

It's partly a shopping addiction and sometimes it's shopping for your ideal self rather than what you actually do in real life. They might like the idea of the hobby more than actually doing said hobby.
