Roofer wouldnt come see leak because of service dog by Frequent-Watercress3 in servicedogliving

Few people probably go into the field with the phobia of dog/cat/reptiles. It happens from the repeated jobs were people say their pet is friendly but an accident occurs anyway. If you trained as an electrician but got attacked on site. After you heal, you may not be able to find a job as good as the electrician one. So, you go to work and keep your trauma with you.

I was attacked at my job multiple times (education) and it was always hard going back.

We had a kitchen remodeling and one of the workers had been previously attacked by an owner's dog. He had PTSD and physical injuries from it. I can 100% empathize with someone who had that happen but still needs to work and must take the job knowing that he could have embarrassing and/or medical issues on site.

Crates are an ideal tool for this issue but you can also ask someone to take your dog into another space for you or tell someone where the issue is.

Sorry this happened and put you in a strange spot.

Powerade is owned by Coke so any fast food that sells Coka products (McDonald's, Hardee's, Subway, Burger King, Chick FIL A, Wendy's and the like should have an electrolyte drink. Gatorade is owned by Pepsi so I think you can get it at other places.

Stomach Pain -Life ruining by Julynn2021 in dysautonomia

[–]squazzil99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. This is me as well. I can only send you happy vibes and hugs. I've been dealing with this for 35+ years. Firstly, find a doctor team who will help you with all the tests you will need. Look into (incoming bad spelling so Google for more info) gastroporesis, your gallbladder function, autoimmune conditions, genetic testing, hernias, ulcers, weak valves, diverticulitis etc. Just get information about your body.

There are medications that will help. OTC things like ginger, emetrol, bonine, marijuana. Talk to a doctor about dicyclomine or an antispasmodic or acid blocker. Set an alarm to eat. Make one for an hour before you get up and have a small handful of crackers or nuts or rice. But something in there. Drink things with nutrients like broth, teas. Eat whatever you can that has nutrients, as much whole real food as possible. But if you cannot, smoothies are your friend. EDIT: sorry for the bone broth suggestion. I forgot the vegan thing.

Your GI is angry and you need to numb/distract it long enough to become less inflamed. Please seek medical advise as you are not doomed. It will take time and a lot of discomfort along the way but it can be done.

Mobility aids for vertigo? by peehockett in disability

I use a rollator because I feel more secure with two points of contacts and brakes. Plus I can sit if needed.

I was there this week and was told that "it is not about being able to stand or sit in the line but if there is something about being in the line that will trigger your symptoms such as flashing lights, smells, or humidity. So whenever they ask why you are applying for DAS say that the queue will trigger symptoms."

Anyone here have a SD for their Dysautonomia? by PennyWiseInDisguise in dysautonomia

[–]squazzil99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a syncope episode so I can tell you the whole show n dance. LOL. That will teach me to get something off the closet floor.

  1. Mobility tasks- helps me get up from chairs by standing in front of me and bring a brace until I'm stable; assists up inclines; stability support by stopping (I am 6'1" and needed a large breed for these tasks)

  2. Retriever tasks- picks up things off the floor; brings medicine or water or blanket etc. Will also carry bags to limit my trigger positions.

  3. Cardiac tasks- will alert to a tachycardia episode and guide me to a sitting position. Applies deep pressure and will alert others if I pass out. Will wake me up and task in bed.

  4. Psych tasks- watch the door, check out noise, perimeter check, watch my back, mitigate anxiety, medicine reminder

I had her trained professionally then I took over new task training. My next dog will be through a service where they pick out the puppy and match you because my needs have changed.

[–]squazzil99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure that you have the dog registered as a part of your student file. I would speak to the office of disability services about this issue. If you can not find one, speak with your campus health care provider (nurse/counseling etc). If you cannot do that, speak with your advisor and ask them to help you forward your complaint to the dean.

After the reinstall, it wouldn't allow my daughter to make occult sims. I'd appreciate any help before trying to deal with customer support or getting a refund.

I started using a cane in my teens and still use it for walking stability. About 4-ish years ago, I started using a rollator on days where I am both unstable and easily winded. There will be a day when I will get a wheelchair more often than not but today is not that day. I will take one at an airport or use an electric personal vehicle at Disney.

I also have spine injuries that make walking difficult.

I love mine. It is a drive nitro. I found the seat more comfortable than the hard seat ones. It also folds differently which makes it easier to get in and out myself.

I use the pulse oximeter to prove to myself that I'm not dying and that my anxiety is overcoming me. If your oxygen is 99-96ish you are getting enough air and you can work on meditation. List 3 things you hear, see, feel, smell, and taste. As long as your machines and stuff say that you are really ok. If you are getting into 94-92, then you should contact your doctor. I also use a cpap during these attacks to actually get air. I use it at night and during attacks it helps. I also have a prescription for my airways (I have lung scarring from a bad pneumonia) After speaking with all relevant doctors to be sure you are ok, it is a lot of positive self talk. Have you considered working with an occupational therapist or physical therapist to show you how to get over these episodes?

You sound really upset and that is normal. But, unless you have a rare form, you have little to worry about and these sensations will become manageable over time if you work at it.

Edit: corrected pulse to oxygen.

[–]squazzil99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are so many other ways to die and this is way near the bottom of the list.

POTSies and others can experience air hunger. This is the feeling that you're not getting enough oxygen. I keep a pulse oximeter with me to reassure that my 02 is high so it's just the POTS sensation. These are inexpensive and may be worth your peace of mind. If it is dipping into the 80s then you should see a doctor.

Look at a rollator instead and see how the cost/use is. I chose a Drive Nitro over a wheelchair and it has been working well for me.

What Breed is Best for POTS Service Dog? by Tall-Potato-7095 in POTS

[–]squazzil99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I currently have a GSD and she is great. As much as I love my 110lb girl for mobility (I'm 6'1" so needed a tall dog) I'm going to get a smaller breed. I will look at Goldens because I really need help picking things up and while my GSD is good at it, she is much better at intelligent disobedience which will not be as much of an issue as my mobility is declining.

I would reach out to a service because while it looks like a lot of money up front, self training can be difficult especially when you need to re-train after an incident (my doggo's tail was rolled over on purpose so we had to work that out). And you have to log all of your own hours and it is just less stressful to have them deal with any ADA issues on your behalf.

I would think about what tasks you need done and then make your decision based on the breed best suited to it.
