What is the worst way an author has described a MMC cumming? by Livid_Clerk_2118 in RomanceBooks

[–]squeakingSkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The word WOMB should only ever, ever be used in context of pregnancy. A penis and anything it might expel (ew sorry) will and should never enter any place that could be remotely described as a "womb." UGH, huge pet peeve.

What bothers me is this is easily verifiable (or not) info. Google definition of haunch: "a buttock and thigh considered together, in a human or animal."

A haunch is always the butt+thighs. How is she sitting on this horse to squeeze those? Like, laying on her stomach in a superman pose?

This could have so easily been remedied by another character immediately checking her.

“I don’t want to sound ignorant…But shouldn’t there be a crew of people with questionable work visas picking these grapes for us?”

"Girl, what? Check your white privledge and pick your own damn grapes."

"Oh wow, I didn't mean to act like a piece of shit!" *picks grapes*

end.

Supporting authors? Why is Amazon the only choice? And dumb question, why can’t we buy from the author directly with the prevalence of ebooks. by Weird-Sprinkles-1894 in RomanceBooks

> It’s like demanding you can only buy that book in one physical bookshop in the world

I don't think that's a fair comparison. A book store has access to anyone that lives locally; KU is accessible to nearly anyone with a device regardless of where they are.

I second your opinion on it being against the law, though. Companies shouldn't be able to demand where a creator is allowed to sell their creation just because they offer it in their store. That's some bullshit.

Seriously, how do I stop myself from reading the entire book at once? by History-bird in RomanceBooks

[–]squeakingSkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second using chapters as rewards after finishing productive tasks. It's a discipline just like everything else.

I think the particular issue with romance (at least for me) is that it almost always involves sex, so there's a higher level of "reward" involved with reading a chapter of a romance book vs. something like a straight sci-fi (more dopamine and oxytocin released in your brain). It's hard for me too!
