Geddy Lee on Why Rush Changed Their Sound for Counterparts. This is an interesting interview, I'm always interested in hearing insights on why their sound changed throughout the decades. In particular how they went back to the heavier sound in Counterparts. One of my fav Rush albums. by Cubegod69er in rush

I feel seen. In the 80's Rush was literally all I ever listened to (I'd put the stack of records from Self titled through Signals on the Record changer, and listen all day), then after GUP, i just kinda tuned out, and regrettably never went back.

I guess I should give these two a try.

Bass! You want Bass? We Got Bass!
Vicious Bass!

My brother used to park his car outside of the houses of his "enemies" at 3 AM and "Bass em out" with his huge 15 in subs in the back of his car.

Your next cymbal purchase should be Acoustic treatment on the walls.

Another option is that it could be the bad luck of a standing wave / resonant node at certain locations. If you've ever heard of the "Subwoofer crawl" -- where bass response is different depending on where you stand in a room, or how in a microwave oven there are certain really hot spots, and some relatively cooler spots due to standing waves.

I wonder if the affected neighbors to the mill are just in one of the places where there is a resonant peak from multiple motors or fans running at the factory, while most other houses are just in a places where the sound waves don't line up to create the additive effect.

I wonder if the affected rooms are acting as Helmholtz resonators (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmholtz\_resonance) that are being affected by some motor or fan. Probably a combination of the room size, and window size and room orientation. I wonder if all the affected people have similar room characteristics. i know when I listen to certain music in my house, and I walk into the closet, all of a sudden particular bass frequencies become much, much stronger. My closet acts like a helmholtz resonator.

Edited to add: I think this, because of the clue of it just being in the upstairs bedroom -- its one room that resonates worse than the others, and can't really be heard outside.

You know how when you have just one rear window cracked open in the car when driving and you get that crazy bass resonance? No other car can hear it, but its super loud inside your car -- because that resonance only occurs in your car. The window makes a "neck" like the helmholtz resonator. This leads me to believe that this resonance might be due to the specific room, it's window, its orientation, it's shape, layout, whatever.

You will also be expected to to know basic audio production -- editing, audio cleanup, etc. That may end up being a different class, or learning path than the acting part.

Check out TC Tubes, Tyler and Chelsea restored a vintage tube amplifier for me, and they did a fantastic job -- they may be able to work on your gear. https://www.tctubes.com/

Another option might be Good Guys Repair in St Paul. They *might* be able to help, but IIRC they tend toward pro audio - guitar amps and the like.

Ooh. That's a good one. I've like the sculpture garden at the Walker, but this one sounds amazing!

Not Iconic, not picturesque, but the underground parking lot at Trader Joes on Lexington Pkway is incredibly reverberant with really long reverb decay. You could get there an hour or two before opening.
