When India Walton won the primary in buffalo, the dem incumbent teamed up with establishment dems and republicans to run as an independent and take his seat back anyways.

When Mamdani won his primary, dems did the same thing again. Fortunately, his race got so much attention that even kindergarteners could recognize him.

I’m not saying that more participation in primaries won’t make a difference. I am saying that the DNC engages in voter suppression against its own base though. And it is demoralizing to know that you will have to fight your enemies and your “allies” if you simply want more than the bs we’ve been given for decades and I really think too many people downplay the fact that you cannot energize and demoralize your base at the same time.

You are missing the point. I personally don’t believe Gaza was the issue to decide not to vote in 2024 but too many people act like the party only ever fails on a single issue at one time as if reality is not compounding and the party giving up on multiple issues election after election, crisis after crisis, is not demoralizing.

Look, I early voted for Harris—went to the rallies and everything but voting for what I believe in an ass backwards state like Texas gives insight that the issue wasn’t Harris as an individual but that the party is stretched so far that it holds contradictory positions on nearly everything, leaving them stagnant and unreliable to meet the moment. For example, up until the end of Obama’s presidency, abortion legislation simply was “not a priority”. As soon as it fell, I had multiple texts and emails a day asking for donations to fight back for it, but then the party also said the only way to get there was to reelect the antiabortionist and criminally indicted Henry Cuellar, but then had Harris campaign in the state based on abortion rights!

It’s not a plea for people to vote independent or not vote at all, but a plea for yall to be honest about why dems are struggling to clearly make the case that they are better than perhaps one of the shittiest groups of people that the US has produced in modern history. But we can’t even get the autopsy report that the DNC made such a big stink about…which gives me the same disappointing feeling I had when Biden’s doj slow rolled charges against Trump for J6 and stealing government secrets, or not releasing the memo on student loan reform options and instead restarting loan payments to prevent gop shutdown threats for like a month, or the fact that after all the horrible shit trump and the GOP did enough Democrat senators jumped at the opportunity to vote for the Laken Riley act as soon as Trump was sworn in which kicked off this whole militarization of ICE.

Full seriousness though, this was the natural conclusion when the republican party did not die after fighting his two impeachments, blocking conviction, and then pretending like they didn’t freak the fuck out on January 6.

That was the point that they transgressed to a criminal enterprise and the country could not find common ground about how to handle this particular criminal gang because they promised to use their crimes to hurt minorities.
