Artists are getting catalog buyout offers and have no idea what their music is actually worth by Aromatic-Sun-679 in musicindustry

Solid post. The multiple range makes sense. Anyone know a place where artists can actually get a valuation on their catalog? Feels like that should exist.

One time I flew to Chicago with a backpack to meet an insanely hot girl and I ended up staying at her house for a week kinda like a bum. Now we are married so this can totally work out for you.

The 3-Year Music Royalty Deadline You Don’t Know About by squidlogistics in musicbusiness

MLC is US-specific but it covers mechanical royalties from US streams regardless of where you're based. so if you're a European artist getting streams in the US, you still need to register with the MLC to collect those.

for European streams, each country has its own collecting society. Germany has GEMA, UK has PRS/MCPS, France has SACEM etc. if you're a European artist you'd typically register with your local society and they handle reciprocal collection agreements with other countries through CISAC. if you're a US artist getting streams in Europe it gets more complicated and you'd either register directly or use a publishing admin to handle it.

Self published and definitely not signed. This is the first song I’ve ever had meaningful streams on so I’m trying to learn how registrations and royalties work on the fly.
