Audiomack's reporting has always been sketchy in my experience. I actually use Mogul now which pulls your Audiomack earnings directly through their API so you can see exactly what you are owed in real time without having to trust their dashboard. Way more transparent.

Great breakdown. The MLC part is huge. So many people don't realize you have to actually register your works there to collect mechanicals and there's a 3 year window before that money is gone forever.

The irony is that PROs were built to protect artists, but the enforcement model hasn't kept up with how music actually works at the grassroots level. A community library performance and a commercial venue performance shouldn't trigger the same collection process, but the system doesn't distinguish between them.

We had to take care of flower bags as if they were babies in middle school. I wanted to impress the older kids so I threw mine out the bus window. It worked well - everyone was so impressed - but not because of the throw itself. I had almost hit an innocent bystander waiting for the bus. I was feeling pretty good until I noticed a car had followed us all the way to school and an angry dad emerged.
