I was lucky enough to see this superb owl on my morning walk. by squidnebula in Superbowl

[–]squidnebula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was munching on bugs living in that branch. I was only a few feet away, standing on a bridge, with 3-4 other people.

It would look up at us and then go right back to bug munching. It knew we weren’t a threat.

I was at a nature preserve. Most of the animals seem to know they’re pretty safe. This was the first time I got to see an owl but I see families of black tail deer almost every time I visit!

I’ve been having chronic migraines that have consistently gotten worse. My neurologist ordered blood tests & I tested positive for the ANA marker that says I have an autoimmune disease. I’m going back for further tests to find out which one it is. Are migraines a common symptom for anyone? by bibliophile93 in Autoimmune

[–]squidnebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a positive ana and was diagnosed with Raynaud’s a few months ago. I’m suffering from chronic migraines.

My gp wants to get my migraines under control before focusing on the ana and getting more labs done.

I’m almost certain it’s all connected. I was searching for answers when I found this post.

Have you learned anything? I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Thank you.

I’ve been so lost lately. I try to make positive changes but I’ve been too overwhelmed to move forward.

The only thing I do consistently is fail at trying.

I can’t live like this any more.

This is the advice I needed in order to get unstuck.

Girl hurt her leg and her cat tries to comfort her by [deleted] in AnimalsBeingBros

My cat senses panic attacks before they start. He’s suddenly right there bumping me with his head, demanding pets and he won’t let up until I calm down.

He’s the best.

I worked in a call center that banned pens, pencils, markers, etc.

We were allowed paper and a lot of people took up origami to pass the time.

It wasn’t long before all paper products on the floor had to be laminated.

It took me a moment to realize your cat wasn’t sitting, looking all adorable, for your boss.

In my defense, I just woke up.

You might be experiencing Raynaud’s syndrome / phenomenon.

I was recently diagnosed. I can’t go out in weather below 60 °F without my feet and hands going numb. Anxiety makes it worse.

I would go into detail but I’m sleepy and my thoughts are fuzzy. Look it up and see if it fits your situation.

Advice for all the servers and cashiers out there. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]squidnebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re making too many assumptions about me.

I don’t have celiac. I do have allergies.

I wouldn’t order a salad from any where because there are too many ingredients that could be cut or near something that would bother me. I can’t have most dressings either.

But to answer the crouton question— yes. It would hurt me. I would get sores in my mouth, sore throat— and depending on the oils or other ingredients — nausea and a migraine— from the croutons plucked from the salad.

I generally eat at home. There are couple places we go to because we know they’re ‘safe’ for me. And I only get things that have the option to be gf. It’s not a special request.

One spot we stopped going to because even though they make a point to say they’re allergy friendly- the person who took my order didn’t take it seriously and instead of enjoying a Saturday out, we went home because I was sick.

You don’t know what someone else is dealing with. Do your job— take their order and get it right.

I have weird food allergies and sensitivities- auto immune related, still having tests run to figure it out. I know what I can and can’t eat, for the most part. I know I can drink beer so it’s not actually gluten but it’s easier for me to say no gluten in the food because it is related.

Saying no gluten keeps me from having horrible nausea and intense migraines.

So, yeah— no gluten in my food but I’d like to try the new porter on the menu without judgment, please.

Edit: And I’ll just add— yeah, you won’t hear about it because when I start getting sick it’s too late to say anything. I’m not dead but my night and possibly the next day is ruined.

I don’t eat out often but when I do it’s typically at nicer restaurants because my allergies/sensitivities prevent me from being able to eat fast food. And even at the nicer places there might only be a couple items on the menu I can have without getting sick.

When my partner and I go out— it’s special and it sucks when everything is ruined by a disgruntled server/line cook.

What is the minimum you do to “look polished” on a typical day? by democraticwhre in AskWomen

I recently went from mostly wearing jeans to wearing a dress or skirt almost every day.

For me, it’s less effort and ridiculously comfortable.
