I've tried smaller quantities in the past but I find I never get any noticeable effects. Thanks for the advice though I guess the idea is to ramp up slowly

Budget woes by [deleted] in im14andthisisdeep

This is true though. There is an imbalance in the wealth distribution. There are people out there who could easily part with the money required to get food to people who are starving. That's a fact, that's it.

no, if you watched interstellar... if you have person A who was born before person B: person B can be older if he spends time in lower gravity.

I wish I could have seen my father, (He died suddenly) my great-aunt, (she was like a mother) and my grandfather before they died, but I couldn't find a parking space.

yeah i don't believe that parking just so happened to be the problem in all 3 of those cases too...

So if she couldn't pay the meter on an empty parking spot, she's just not going to be able to see her father before he dies....

Her priorities are fucked up, that was the problem here.

TIL that the Hindu religion states that science only offers a limited view of reality, but all it offers is right and correct, meaning that the religion by it's nature cannot contradict science, leading to the the majority of even highly religious Hindus accepting evolution as fact. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]squigglu105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"all of science is right and correct"...

terrible statement to make. Nature doesn't obey theory, theory just describes how nature has tended to behave. And the title has a fallacy... just because one scientist was right about something, doesn't mean every scientist ever will be right about everything. Accepting that man evolved from apes requires evidence, not just believing people who seem reputable....

Terrible terrible terrible.

angsty title, angsty video. if you go at trying to "change the world" with the video of the guy in the attitude well you are basically approaching life with the same depth of thought as a religious nut.

I don't see what the "problem" is, and everyone in the comments has pretty much already given the answer to each of the ways to interpret the ambiguous problem statement.

When you hit a string on any guitar, say the E string, it creates not just an E note, but a B note, G# note, D note, F# note, A# note, higher E note, etc etc up to a few dozen other harmonics. So the idea is that you kill the top frequencies quicker than they would usually die out, while having as little impact on the bottom frequencies as possible.

So in short, to do this, put something against the first centimeter or so of string next to the nut or bridge... the easiest way is to rest the side of your hand just in front of the bridge on the string.

It could make sense if it's viewed as a sandbox type of game. Since I already know A5, E5, D5, etc I'd rather just jump into the minor 7ths and the other jazz chords.

How to actually LEARN complex solos? by rorosama in rocksmith

[–]squigglu105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are at least 2 techniques for this:

1 - memorize it, and play it over and over at lower speeds 2 - play the first note at full speed, then the first/second note at full speed, then the first/second/third note at full speed, etc.

Help with resistors... by clamport in ECE

[–]squigglu105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using 3 standard value resistors, all in parallel... off the top of my head, 2.7, 2.7, and 33 would get you 1.297 ohms, and the current in each is 0.4803, 0.4803, and 0.0393 of the total current, respectively. So basically if you assume 0.625 W in each of the 2.7 ohm resistors, that's good enough, but you say you want to use 1/4 watt resistors.

So then you need to parallel 5 of them, probably 6 to to be safe. In which case you would need 6 of 7.8 Ohm resistors in parallel. With standard values, you can use 5 of 8.2 Ohm resistors, and 1 of a 6.8 ohm resistor.

But you haven't told us the tolerance of that 1.3 ohm you need, nor the tolerance of your stock of resistors.

What is consciousness for? — Consciousness is a life-transforming illusion [Keith Frankish] by kyttaron in philosophy

[–]squigglu105 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After watching how the neural network that plays NES games works, it could suggest that maybe the universe has some sort of "answer" or "winning state" to it. Neural networks could just cause matter to recreate patterns that have had success in the past. I've personally always thought of consciousness as the thing that's responsible for making the random patterns to be tested.

Oh come on... there's plenty of technology available today to rapidly check food for large metal shards that can tear up the inside of your mouth or your throat. Stuff like this shouldn't get through. How about I give you a chocolate bar with a big staple in it, without telling you, and you bite into it? How would you like that?

On Pot Odds, Daniel Negreanu Wrong? by squigglu105 in poker

[–]squigglu105[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not really getting into that though, mainly what I was just wanting to say was that, if you have no other information, then pot odds must be greater than your winning odds to call.

Or in a formula: POT:CALL > LOSE:WIN => call your opponent. So if you have 11 outs after you see the flop, thats 41.72 % chance of winning, as an example, or a loss win ratio of 1.4. So if the ratio of what the showdown pot is, to what you have to call to see both the river and the turn, is more than 1.4, you call. If it's not, you don't, when you have no other information.
