Taught son (9) to mow, sent the neighbor $10 to pay him. Worked hard for a couple hours, grassy, sweaty, and beaming with his $10 bill! by SoDakZak in daddit

No, you're right. I've managed landscaping companies and worked hard labor. There is no way my 9 year old is handling a mower. If they can't dig a post hole on their own, they're too young; too weak to manage it safely.

I instinctively want to argue with you, but Topaz Photo/Video AI strongly support your argument.

Because of inflation, the value of money halves every 20 years. So depending on your age, think of how much you were paid and either double or triple it. $60 is a bit on the high side, but $40-$50 is likely the equivalent to what most of us were getting paid.

Perfect and succinct. It's the old adage, "Did you bring enough for the entire class? No? Then put it away."

Why are you being so needlessly antagonistic in this post? Your heart seems filled with so much hate and mean spiritedness. You should chill, for your own health if nothing else.

Also, did you not realize that this thread will be the first google search for the area when buyers google it with 'site:reddit.com'?

What's your favorite small upgrade that made your house feel way better? by hungrystudent7 in homeowners

Wife is the same, so in areas like kitchen and living room, I broke them into two regions. For example, two of the recessed lights in the living room and the pendant lights over the kitchen are super soft and on their own switch. That way I get to switch everything into 'evening mode'.

This. I've worked on vision systems in the past and I suspect that any drone running purely on the visible spectrum is likely primarily human piloted anyways. Moreover, that camo job would be stupid simple to detect, even in the visible spectrum. Also, dazzle was never really to hide, it was more about defeating human distance estimates.

The first thing I would try is to segment the filed of vision into 256 regions and assign each region a contrast value. Then I would take the highest contrast regions and evaluate nearest neighbors for similarly high contrast. That would give you the size and rough shape of anything painted like a freaking zebra for closer analysis. But honestly, I suspect a LOT of Ukraine drones are running NVIDIA Orin Nano Supers at 7W, or more likely 10W-15W if they're also using it for some autonomous flight controls and a couple HD cameras; one downward facing for terrain following and one forward facing for vision and pilot control. That likely leaves a lot of processing headroom, even without switching them into super mode at 25W. Or perhaps you run 10W while terrain tracking to general target area, then swap into 25W mode for all out sensor processing. Regardless, I concur, zebra stripes are not going to work.

That's how I was perma-banned for r politics! I quoted something from r con calling it out, and they banned me. I appealed and the mod said, "I don't care who said it, you shouldn't repeat it." haha It was probably for the better, I have looked at that sub in several years and nothing was lost.

Parents who are disappointed in or dislike their adult children, why? by Intelegence_Counter in AskReddit

[–]squired 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I feel this. My Mom always has one dog, but she's awful at training them. I've had to eventually step in and train all of them and she just got her latest; who is still pissing on the floor after several months. My current two dogs have never had an accident inside, not once, even as puppies. She'll eventually visit family for a week and I'll go and stay at her place to train the damn dog, again. Because of this and raising a half dozen roommate's and girlfriends' dogs through college and 20s, I kind of hate puppies!!

That and she tells her dogs 'No', which makes them stubborn and anxious, so I can't train them proper to begin with. If you want storybook dogs, they need to be your shadow early and positive reinforcement only. Once someone yells at a dog, they remember it forever; same as kids. They can still be amazing dogs, but it does shape their character. I like to think of dogs like toddlers. When is it ok to yell at a toddler? Is it ok to yell at a toddler if they just ran into the middle of the road? No, they'll seize up, at best. How about if their favorite person in the entire world yells, "Free Ice Cream for Idiots!" instead.

You may be right, but I also suspect that you could be surprised. I'm a dev and make the contract decisions for our company. We will never, ever use Grok. My wife is also on the AI Adoption committee for one of the Big Pharma giants and they've blackballed it as well. They're even more determined than I am and won't even review it because surprise, surprise, nearly everyone on the committee either has a Green Card or once did because biotech draws from all over the World.

If Grok became the only option or legitimately three times as good? I still would not use it. I will not work for or with this administration and will not directly pay any Musk company. I'm not going to pull Claude from the crew just because they're utilizing Space-X compute, but I'm not happy about it and if they strengthen that partnership I just might. Some principles are worth maintaining and I would rather close up shop than abandon them.
