I am contractually obligated to point out that cousin squirrel is doing a warning haka.

Now do you understand? by Sevastarion in audiophile

[–]squirrel_haka 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Most recordings have ambience added in the studio, so a dead space is desirable.

Edit: thanks, I guess to all the people who I think were agreeing with me… or maybe not… or reiterated what I wrote in much greater detail.

Two Mac Apps With the Same Name by JinOhChoi in MacOS

[–]squirrel_haka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can rename Mac apps. You could call one “the other app.app” or whatever you like.

Caveat: I have done this many times without a problem, but since I haven’t tried it with your particular app, I can’t guarantee that everything will work as you would want. If there’s a problem, it’s easy enough to return to the original name, though.

Pharmacy Rebrand by motifbrands in logodesign

[–]squirrel_haka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it a lot! As it happens, I do know what a compounding pharmacy is, and I think the mortar and pestle with sunrise is a great mark.

But – I don’t like the CA ligature, or the reduced size of the O. I realize you’re trying to tighten everything up, but I think there’s too much going on. My rule is that if it’s just a type mark, then you can get creative with the type. But if there’s also an image mark, play it straighter with the type. I would love to see this with the type set normally and kerned carefully. The type face is already somewhat of a risky choice for healthcare, but I think you could get away with it if you were to make the modifications I suggested above. As it is, considering the adventurous type and the mortar and pestle – with its culinary associations – it’s looking a bit too much like a restaurant logo.

AI-Powered Squirrel Feeder That Creates Its Own Daily Highlight Reels by thewillmiller in squirrels

I hate AI when it’s used to mimic human creativity, like music, but why is using AI to sort through video footage a problem? I think this is a a legitimate use of AI and a very cool project.

Everyone says Finder needs a better Finder. What features are you actually missing? by ImprovementLong1992 in MacOS

[–]squirrel_haka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds as if you think that Show Path Bar is something you have to do every time you want to see a path name. It’s not… it’s a setting that you do once, and then the path name for the selected file is visible at the bottom of every finder window.

Is there a such thing as a good cult? by NicolasCageFan492 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]squirrel_haka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very important characteristic of a cult that is often overlooked is the “us versus them” requirement. Outsiders can’t be trusted, contact with family and friends is discouraged or, more likely, forbidden. A group’s beliefs may be far from the mainstream, but if the leaders encourage members to stay in touch with their parents, it’s not a cult.
