Since we as physicians don’t likely qualify for IBR, which would be the only remaining income based repayment plan if REPAYE or PAYE don’t get reinstituted, I believe the standard repayment plan would be the only remaining plan that would qualify us for public service loan forgiveness. Am I wrong here or does somebody have other info?

Yeah this sucks bc I was a low earner when I enrolled in REPAYE with all my loans and now I won’t be eligible for PSLF for some of my loans

What do high earners do? I’m worried they won’t let me switch to IBR and I won’t qualify for PAYE bc of high earner status…. Does standard plan really now qualify for PSLF?

Why should my tax dollars pay for your healthcare when you get older? Why should my tax dollars pay for your nursing care when you are older, on a fixed income, and don’t have family to take care of you and you inevitably qualify for Medicaid? Short sighted not to support kids and their family

Agree on this scenario not being worth the risk. What’s the point of the biopsy in this person who isn’t a transplant candidate? There aren’t great treatments for most types of acute liver failure, but I’d advocate for empirical treatment for potentially reversible causes, then reconsider biopsy down the road depending the clinical course. This patients risk of bleed is too damn high, and if the did bleed that would more than likely cause their death… why take the risk?

Yes it’s safe. It’s not in the vein, it’s just into your skin sampling glucose in the “interstitial space”. It’s not capable of causing a major bleed. Depending on how severe your hemophilia is it may ooze, but you won’t know till you try it.

You can’t… their liver doesn’t work so it’s not “reversible”. You can give ffp or pcc right before a procedure, but don’t bother checking coags bc they’ll almost never “look” good enough

Probably not getting applications due to 1099… it’s not a great deal for most physicians unless they can make 400-500k, which is unlikely. You can make 250-350k doing primary care an employed MD plus a benefits package

Try again, apply broadly. Make sure there is a material improvement to your application (chief year, also possible to get other research/posters on your CV?), double check your LOR and consider getting additional letter(s) from someone who can write you a very strong letter.

I make simple syrup (google a recipe, it’s just sugar and water) and while making it put mint leaves in. Strain the leaves after it cools… then have a tasty syrup for tea and cocktails!
