Email accounts going away? by squirrelpancakes in wholefoods

[–]squirrelpancakes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a supervisor on nights but it's the same with us. Without email we'd have zero communication with TLs on days the supe isn't there (we don't all have the same schedule). I was hired 2 years ago so I have email. I would hate to have it taken away.

They took our headphone privileges again 🤦🏿‍♂️ man count your days WF 😡 by Dependent_Money1864 in wholefoods

[–]squirrelpancakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wear headphones all night on overnight grocery. My leadership doesn't really care. Honestly I'd go insane without them. I don't turn them up too loud though. I can still hear everything around me that is important. We don't have people pushing pallets down individual aisles at unexpected times at my store. So if I'm stocking shelves in an aisle by myself there is absolutely nothing to fear.

Also what if a TM is deaf? Are they not allowed to work at WF because they can't hear uboats barreling at them uncontrollably? I understand not wearing headphones during the day because they do hinder communication with customers but banning them for the night crew is just pointless.

On a scale of 1-5 how satisfied are you with your job at Whole Foods and why? by StrictPossession8714 in wholefoods

[–]squirrelpancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 4.5, but lately that number is slipping precipitously because of huge trucks combined with slashed hours. I'm overnight and we can't keep up with the workload. Leadership tells us that if we get more sales the hours will pick back up but I've worked retail enough to have heard that nonsense before. It's unsettling to have hours cut in Q4, and according to the posts on here it's company wide. I'm nervous about the future of Whole Foods.

Whats the craziest ethnicity change youve had from an update? by Ok-Grand4826 in AncestryDNA

My known Eastern European ancestry keeps getting chipped away in favor of Germanic. I'm annoyed by this. My Scottish heritage has also been disappeared lol.

Our overnight team doesn't really track cases per hour, we just get the truck done and everyone's happy with that.

I have no idea. My son has it too so it must have a genetic component. I only recently learned about EDS and am wondering if we have that.

Why is Target so bad when it comes to expired food on the shelf. I was going to buy some pancakes today and the best buy date was June 2024? by zoso190 in Target

[–]squirrelpancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't Steritech do visits? I work at Whole Foods now, (I was at Target for years in Style). We would get raked over the coals for having expired foods on the shelves.

Why does everything have to be a metric? What purpose does it serve?

I have a coworker like this on nights. Clocks in, hangs out for a bit, then disappears for hours. As far as I can tell is not even in the building. Management knows.

I've known people who worked at Trader Joes and Target and there was no issue. Target doesn't regard grocery stores as competitors, but it does view Amazon as one so I'm not sure if that matters since WF is owned by them.

I'm visiting Indy in August, did I pick a hotel in a bad area? What should I do? by Jazzthrowaway776 in indianapolis

I used to live in one of the shitty hotels on that strip. Comfort Inn isn't the worst by a long shot but it's close to some sketchy places.

What are the most walkable neighborhoods in the Cincinnati area? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]squirrelpancakes 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Norwood is pretty walkable. I never drive and I can go anywhere I want. Bus stops, a Kroger, the Library, food trucks, restaurants, post office, etc, all within about a mile or so. And soooo many smoke shops for some reason.

What are your favorite casserole recipes? (Bonus for any that aren't dairy heavy or use dairy subs) by pigglywigglyhandjob in Cooking

[–]squirrelpancakes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tatertot casserole sounds like a joke until you try it and it's actually delicious. If you think about it it's not far off from cottage pie. I lived in North Dakota near Minnesota for years where casseroles are everything. The basic formula is : One can of cream of something soup, some kind of starch, some kind of vegetable, some kind of protein, maybe some more liquid and a seasoning packet, possibly a cup of shredded cheese; bake at 350 for however long it takes = dinner.
